Sony May Host Ghost of Yotei Midnight Launch in India
Highlights
Sony is reportedly preparing midnight launches for Ghost of Yotei across Bengaluru and Mumbai.
Other hubs like Delhi, Hyderabad, Patna, Ludhiana, and Gurugram may also be included if stock clears customs well in advance.
The October 2 Gandhi Jayanti holiday complicates game deliveries, making pre-planning critical for stores to host timely midnight events.
Sony could be bringing back the midnight launch tradition to India with the much-anticipated PS5 exclusive Ghost of Yotei. Multiple industry sources suggest that the company is planning to host midnight events in major cities, giving fans a chance to pick up the game as soon as it launches.
If everything stays on track, Bengaluru and Mumbai retailers may open their doors at midnight, with additional cities likely to join depending on stock clearance and logistics. For Indian PlayStation fans, this would mark one of the biggest in-person launch celebrations since Spider-Man 2.
Ghost of Yotei is One of Sony’s Most Anticipated PS5 Titles
According to a report by Rishi Alwani of High Chaos Run, Sony is pushing for a wide midnight release of Ghost of Yotei in India. The cities currently being lined up include Bengaluru, Mumbai, and, if past launches are a reference point, Delhi and Hyderabad. Secondary hubs such as Patna, Ludhiana, and Gurugram are also being discussed internally. Local Bengaluru retailers like Radio House and Venus Games have already indicated readiness to participate if Sony gives final confirmation.
The major challenge remains timing. For the midnight launch to proceed, Sony needs copies of Ghost of Yotei not just to arrive in India before release but also to be distributed to regional warehouses a week in advance. This is crucial since the October 2 Gandhi Jayanti holiday complicates transportation schedules and may delay last-mile delivery to retail outlets. Past launches have shown how such holidays create logistical hurdles for gaming distributors in India.
If things proceed smoothly, Sony is expected to announce the official midnight launch plans by the third week of September. That announcement would also reassure fans who are eager for in-person celebrations of a major PS5 exclusive. For long-time console players in India, midnight launches have been cultural moments that go beyond simply buying a boxed copy. They double as community gatherings where fans celebrate together.
With Sony reportedly holding stock planning meetings and Indian retailers preparing for demand, the stage seems set for Ghost of Yotei to carry forward the midnight launch tradition into 2025.
