Assassin’s Creed Player Hits 10M Milestone for Mirage
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage Hits 10 Million Players
New engagement from “Valley of Memory” boosts longevity for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, pointing towards a deeper monetization and content reuse potential.
Highlights
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage hit 10M players milestone in FY2026 Q2, doubling from 5M total players, driven by the new Valley of Memory update.
- Ubisoft reports 211M session days for the Assassin’s Creed franchise in 2025, a ~35% rise over the previous two-year average, supported by Shadows and Mirage's new updates.
- Ubisoft shifts strategy to long-tail content and catalog monetization, planning the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake before March 2026 instead of a major new release, reinforcing franchise longevity.
French video game publisher, Ubisoft Entertainment SA, has recently published its first half (H1) earnings, underscoring that the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise has exceeded expectations. The milestone comes as the franchise recorded 211M “session days” in 2025, approximately 35% higher than the previous two-year average.
Ubisoft also noted that while the entire franchise overperformed, the success mainly comes due to the new updates in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, despite earlier concerns around franchise fatigue. Mirage has doubled its player count from 5M total players to 10M during the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2026, creating a new record for the Assassin's Creed franchise.
According to Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, the series has confirmed “its positive momentum and ability to engage players over time.”
Mirage’s Performance and Content Strategy
Shadows’ New Game+ mode, launched in July, allowed players to restart the game while keeping all their gear, skills, and hideout progression. The new mode and Claws of Awaji expansion re-engaged players and captured a broader audience. According to the publisher, the game has an even higher chance to "reach a broader audience," after its release on Switch 2 in December.
Shadows’ strong performance helped Mirage gain traction after a year of its launch. The title also received a new free update, “Valley of Memory,” this November, along with gameplay improvements and fixes, which boosted engagement.
The report also notes that the early reviews of the new update, featuring a new story arc for Basim, have been “very positive.” The publisher credits this new update for Mirage reaching a 10M player record.
10M players doesn’t mean 10M downloads; the publisher hasn’t revealed the number of copies sold and total revenue of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. According to independent data tracker, Gamalytic, the title has sold 402.7k copies generating roughly $7.9M revenue.
Mirage’s success also illustrates a shift in Ubisoft’s production approach. "Beyond Shadows, the rest of the Assassin's Creed back-catalog also performed strongly, highlighting the strength of the franchise," the publisher stated. Aligning new updates for older titles with reignited demand stemming from new releases is supporting the franchise’s longevity.
The publisher is planning to retain the momentum with a Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, reported to launch before March 2026, instead of a new full-scale release.
