Blue Box Manga Crosses 10M in Circulation as Season 2 Approaches
Kouji Miura's Weekly Shonen Jump romance franchise crosses the milestone ahead of its October 2026 Netflix anime return.
Highlights
- Kouji Miura’s Blue Box manga surpasses 10 million copies in circulation.
- The Weekly Shonen Jump title stands out in the shōnen landscape with its blend of sports, romance, and coming-of-age themes.
- Strong growth driven by the anime adaptation positions Blue Box as a commercially successful IP.
Shueisha's Blue Box manga, written and illustrated by Kouji Miura, has reached 10M copies in circulation globally. The official Blue Box PR account announced the figure on May 1, 2026, along with the publication details of Blue Box’s latest volume, Vol. 25.
Blue Box manga started serialization on Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2021. Achieving the 10M circulation milestone within five years positions the high-school romance drama as one of the fastest-growing IPs in the current Weekly Shonen Jump lineup.
Blue Box Manga Growth and a Shifting Shōnen Landscape
Miura’s Blue Box distinguishes itself among new-gen shōnen titles due to its blend of sports and coming-of-age themes. Unlike manga like Gachiakuta, Kagurabachi, and Sakamoto Days, which use high-intensity action as a base plot, Blue Box relies on thematic and slow-paced storytelling, easing the reader into the narrative.
By February 2026, Blue Box manga had 9.6M copies in circulation, meaning the remaining 400K copies were circulated within the last two months. Without any franchise backing or a renowned author name, the first volume had over 170K copies in circulation within a week when it debuted in August 2021.
Blue Box readership grew since then, and by October 2025, the manga had surpassed 9M copies in circulation, after TMS Entertainment adapted it into an anime series. Blue Box anime has helped increase the visibility of the IP. Season 1 streamed globally on Netflix, starting in October 2024. Blue Box season 2 will start airing from Oct 4, 2026, with the manga reportedly nearing its final serialization phase.
The final serialization phase was indicated by Miura at Jump Festa '26. Nonetheless, Blue Box manga’s sustained growth and 10M figure show how a distinct narrative can engage readers and achieve commercial viability without immediate blockbuster status or high-end merchandizing tie-ins.
