BTS Arirang Pop-Up Stores to Open in Seoul as Album Nears Release

BTS Arirang pop-up event will be held in association with the National Museum of Korea's merch arm, depicting a rare blend of K-pop retail and national heritage.

BTS will launch a series of Seoul pop-up stores to tie in with the release of their fifth studio album, Arirang. The retail drive, which includes a partnership with the National Museum of Korea's merchandising arm, MU:DS, marks the group's first full-unit return in nearly four years, thereby indicating a significant commercial event for the industry.

Named after the record, the Arirang pop-ups, will kick off on March 20 at 1 p.m., coinciding with the album's global release date. The BTS pop-up stores for the new album will be active until April 12 at The Heritage, Shinsegae Department Store's flagship branch, and at the HYBE headquarters in Seoul.

BTS Arirang Pop-Ups Blend K-Culture Design With Museum Collab

BTS new album pop-up stores will incorporate its concept, acting as cultural displays. The merchandise will combine classic Korean aesthetics with modern design, rolling out products like keychains, hairclips, hoodies, skirts, bags, and ball caps, amongst others.

Select products will go on sale early on the Weverse Shop on March 12, with the whole collection available on March 20. On the other hand, the collaborative MU:DS merchandise will also be available in the National Museum of Korea gift shop beginning the same day. Notably, the people seeking to visit the museum store must make reservations through the Weverse Spot booking system. Notably, the National Museum of Korea has also partnered with BLACKPINK and Spotify for DEADLINE release and the listening event tied to it, which sold out in minutes.

BTS Arirang Launch Event: Comeback Builds High Demand and Anticipation

Arirang has already received over 4 million pre-saves on Spotify, indicating high global demand ahead of its release. Additionally, last month, industry data revealed that the album exceeded 4.06 million pre-orders in its first week, breaking the group's prior record established by Map of the Soul: 7.

Harnessing the cultural gravitas of Korea, the title Arirang establishes a tone of national resilience that the group intends to carry directly to Seoul's streets. Following the album's 1 p.m. release on March 20, BTS will kick off their comeback with a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square the next evening on March 21, recreating the city's symbolic heart into a platform where people can celebrate the country's contemporary cultural identity. The Gwanghwamun show is also officially sponsored by the Seoul Government, thereby gaining system support for boosting the country’s soft power diplomacy.

The comeback also highlights BTS' overall economic power in the K-pop scene and its label HYBE. In 2025, HYBE of ₩ 2.65 trillion (~ $1.8 billion USD), owing mostly to the septet’s return, various other concerts, merchandising, and global fan engagement related to its global artist roster.
