BLACKPINK’s Exclusive Spotify Listening Event Sells Out in Minutes

The pre-release event for the group's first album in nearly three years will be held at the National Museum of Korea

  • On Feb 19, tickets for BLACKPINK's Deadline Spotify pre-listening event sold out within minutes of being released.
  • The five-track Deadline, out Feb 27, is the quartet's first group release since 2022's Born Pink.
  • The Feb 26 preview at the National Museum of Korea represents the expanding use of national institutions in K-pop album releases.

Reservations for BLACKPINK's pre-listening event at the National Museum of Korea sold out immediately after opening on Feb. 19, as the South Korean pop group prepares for its first collective release since 2022.

The Feb. 26 event, organized by YG Entertainment and the National Museum of Korea with Spotify as an official partner, will preview "Deadline," a five-track mini-album out Feb. 27. Some sessions are reserved for Spotify Premium subscribers.

A broader public "Listening Zone" will open the following day in the museum's east wing along a corridor called the "Path of History," running through March 8. The museum's exterior will be lit in pink nightly from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the duration. Inside, audio guides for eight artifacts will be narrated by the four members: Jisoo and Jennie in Korean, Rosé in English and Lisa in Thai.

BLACKPINK's Spotify streaming numbers back up the demand

"Deadline" is BLACKPINK's first group project since "Born Pink" in 2022. Its lead single "Jump" logged 44.8 million streams in its first week on Spotify, the platform's biggest debut of 2025, and topped the Billboard Global 200.

By August 2024, the group had surpassed 13 billion cumulative Spotify streams. That figure climbed past 16 billion by November 2025, according to Guinness World Records, which lists them as the most-streamed female group on the platform.

Individual members have kept the brand visible in the gap between group releases. Jennie's "Like Jennie" ranked first in the Asia Brand Research Institute's K-Brand Index for songs of 2025, based on an analysis of over 51 million data points collected in January 2026. Rosé's APT a collaboration with Bruno Mars, was named the best-selling global single of 2025 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the first time the IFPI chart has been topped by an artist outside North America or Europe.

Why BLACKPINK's Spotify event points to a new album-launch model

The museum partnership is the first large-scale collaboration between a K-pop act and the National Museum of Korea. Album launches have moved beyond digital drops and listening parties at nightclubs or record stores. By staging a pre-release event at a national cultural institution, Spotify and YG Entertainment are positioning the album closer to a cultural exhibition than a product rollout.

For streaming platforms competing on exclusives, these events offer a way to convert subscriber loyalty into real-world engagement. For museums, it is foot traffic and a younger demographic. Whether the model scales beyond a handful of top-tier acts remains to be seen.
