BTS Leads Pollstar Artist Power Index with No. 1 Live Ranking

Live metrics redefine industry rankings as BTS transforms fan demand into sustained, record-level touring economics globally.

  • BTS demonstrates that touring demand can surpass streaming and airplay metrics, highlighting global music power.
  • BTS’ 2019 Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour set a stadium milestone that rivals Western acts while also setting a standard for the scale of live economics.
  • From Permission to Dance On Stage to the Arirang World Tour, BTS acts as a persistent, high-impact economic booster, driving the global touring industry to new heights.

The live music landscape in 2026 is experiencing a foundational shift that is defining usual industry logic. As per the May 1 Pollstar Artist Power Index, Bruno Mars maintains a three-week success on the No. 1 position in the airplay and streaming segment. However, it is BTS who has dominated the “Live” category. The group has attained the No. 4 position in the chart, considering overall metrics, but their success in the “Live” segment showcases that their touring gravity remains strong. It is further bolstered by their current Arirang world tour, which depicted that even with years of absence from the industry, momentum could be sustained.

BTS 2019 Tour Set the Modern Stadium Benchmark

BTS’ stadium dominance is not a new development, instead, it is a continuation of a precedent set by their previous performances. In 2019, Pollstar tracked BTS’ Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, which reportedly decimated records. According to data cited by popular media outlets like Soompi and Maeil Business Newspaper, the figures stated that during that particular cycle, BTS did not just lead Pollstar’s Live 75 chart, but doubled the ticket averages of their competitors. The South Korean boy band, reportedly, moved 51,106 tickets per show across notable venues like London’s Wembley and Paris’s Stade de France. That mid-tour snap alone indicated a $78 million USD gross, laying the groundwork for what would become a $300M career touring outcome by 2022.

Touring Strength Offsets BTS’ Streaming-Airplay Gap

BTS’ latest No. 1 Live status is remarkable when compared to their 40th-place streaming rank and 96th-place airplay rank. The gap in streaming is revealed by the fluctuations of rankings on Billboard charts; nevertheless, its No. 2 Social Rank, coupled with its No. 1 Live status, highlights the band’s popularity amongst the masses. In the current index, the group’s “Live” ranking has effectively anchored them above their Western peers like The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, and Olivia Dean, who climbed to No. 5 post her April tour launch.

BTS had generated significant revenue even in the 2020-2022 timeline when the world stopped due to the pandemic. Their 2022 US tour in Las Vegas, titled Permission to Dance On Stage, generated about $18M in a single residency. The group performed the event in the nearly 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium, the home ground of the American football team, Las Vegas Raiders, on April 8, 19, 15, and 16 in 2022.

Notably, Permission to Dance On Stage was their final act before the group members started enlisting for their mandatory military service. It solidified their metamorphosis within the absolute mainstream circuit.

Arirang Tour Signals BTS’ Return to Peak Global Touring Power

The present BTS Arirang World Tour is expected to be one of the biggest tours worldwide, generating a revenue that could rival Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Economic impact at the regional levels, like that in Goyang (South Korea), Tokyo (Japan), Tampa (Florida, US), and El Paso (Texas, US), are already showcasing positive results. With such data in the forefront, a deeper truth is showcased: in the high-end global touring circuit, the “BTS Effect” has become the gold standard for gross income reliability.
