BTS' 'Normal' blocks Shakira's World Cup anthem to claim No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart.
BTS Beats Shakira on Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart
A 20,700-download tracking week highlights BTS’ commercial strength in a market progressively being shaped by streaming consumption.
Highlights
- BTS’ Normal hit No. 1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart, surpassing Shakira and Burna Boy's World Cup 2026 anthem.
- The movement reinforces the commercial effect of BTS' Arirang era, which was accentuated by its earlier 2026 chart-toppers Swim and Come Over.
- While Shakira’s World Cup song maintains the top spot on Billboard’s global streaming charts, BTS leads purchase-based rankings.
BTS has gained another U.S. chart victory as Normal maintains its No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales ranking, holding off Shakira and Burna Boy's official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem from taking the top spot. Driven by a freshly released music video and expanded physical formats, Normal produced about 20,700 U.S. downloads in its latest tracking week, as noted by Luminate data published by Billboard. That total nearly tripled the 7,200 downloads recorded by Shakira and Burna Boy’s Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026), which climbed to a peak of No. 2.
Digital Purchases Highlight BTS’ U.S. Market Strength
This late-July tracking frame highlighted the gap between global consumption and U.S. purchase activity. Shakira and Burna Boy’s Dai Dai held No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts while hitting No. 17 on the Hot 100. However, BTS’ Normal's Digital Song Sales ranking emphasized the group’s pertinent strength in paid purchases.
The chart performance aligned with download performance. For instance, ARIRANG’s lead song SWIM debuted at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart in April, owing to its 95,300 downloads, thereby making it the biggest digital sales debut of 2026.
The momentum further continued through June, when Come Over entered at No. 1 on the same chart after it marked a top entry in the U.K. Singles Downloads Chart in the same month. That release earned BTS its 14th career leader on the U.S. purchase ranking, placing the group ahead of Justin Bieber, while tying Rihanna for third-most in chart history behind Taylor Swift (32), Nicki Minaj (17), and Drake (15).
