BTS Jimin’s Family Café in Busan to Close in A Year!

ZM-ILLENNIAL, a café run by BTS Jimin’s father, will soon shut its doors, thus ending a popular destination for fans visiting Busan.

  • BTS Jimin’s father announced the closure of his Busan café, giving fans 365 days to visit it before shutting down.
  • Formerly known as MAGNATE, the café reportedly became entangled in a trademark dispute involving a neighboring business.
  • Fans on social media expressed sadness, revisited memories of meeting Jimin’s father, and hoped he would open another café in the future.

BTS member Jimin’s father, Park Hyun-soo, is set to close his café in a year, disappointing fans. The café, named ZM-ILLENNIAL, recently announced the decision via its official Instagram account on October 31, 2026, thanking visitors from around the world for the love, encouragement, and memories they had shared with the establishment over the years.

"From today, the remaining time ZM-ILLENNIAL will be with you is 365 days," the café said in its official statement, leaving the fans with a final opportunity to visit one of the group's most recognizable fan destinations in Busan, South Korea. Although the announcement did not specify an exact final operating date, the establishment promised to maintain its commitment to customers until its last day.

Why is BTS Jimin’s Father Closing His Busan Café?

Located at 135 Jinnam-ro in Busan's Nam-gu district, the café has been a popular stop for global BTS fans since opening in 2019 as MAGNATE. Its connection to Jimin and its industrial-style interiors, artworks, and displays of memorabilia associated with the singer progressively made it into a popular destination for those exploring his hometown.

Apart from its association with the BTS vocalist, the café became known for its welcoming atmosphere. Fans from different countries left letters, gifts, and artwork with Jimin's father, who is affectionately known as 'Papa Park' amongst them. He was reportedly a familiar presence at the café.

However, in August 2024, it rebranded from MAGNATE to ZM-ILLENNIAL amid a dispute over the use of its original name. That controversy resurfaced in June 2026, when the café issued a clarification about a neighboring store operating under the same name MAGNATE. ZM-ILLENNIAL then clarified that the two businesses were independent and had no affiliation with each other.

Content creator Noonasnoonchi was the first one to bring the dilemma to public attention via an Instagram post. She claimed that Park had been dealing with considerable stress over an issue involving the neighboring property owner. According to the creator, the adjacent business had started to sell coffee and adopt purple-themed aesthetics, which is commonly associated with BTS ARMY, thus potentially creating confusion among visitors. Yet, the café has not officially linked its closure decision to the reported dispute.

Simultaneously, a trademark issue has also brought contradicting versions of the café closing issue to light. In August 2026, South Korean publication Energy Economy reported that the neighbouring MAGNATE denied claims that it had unlawfully appropriated the trademark connected to Jimin’s father’s café. Its owner reportedly communicated that the brand had been registered in 2019 and that the café had originally been permitted to use the name under a rental agreement.

BTS ARMY Reacts to the Closure Announcement

The announcement has triggered a wave of emotions from BTS fans, many of whom associate the café with personal memories of visiting Busan and experiencing the warmth of Jimin's family.

Several fans expressed sadness over the news, while many others suggested that fellow ARMY members should visit the establishment during its final year. Some fans also shared hopes, praying that Park might eventually open another café at a different location.

Noonasnoonchi, who also addressed the announcement, said she had initially been surprised by Jimin’s father’s decision but expressed support for what she described as a choice made for his wellbeing.

For now, ZM-ILLENNIAL will welcome visitors for another 365 days. Its eventual closure plans may prompt fans to reconsider visiting Busan. The café’s closure, therefore, possibly happens to be a personal loss for those who had associated it with their Busan experience or hoped to visit it on some occasion in the future.
