Festival's Cultural Impact

Delhi Comic Con will return Dec. 5-7 at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds in Okhla, bringing together comics, gaming, cosplay and immersive experiences to transform the capital into India's pop-culture hub.

While organizers have confirmed cosplay showcases, gaming tournaments and exclusive merchandise, they are keeping major attractions under wraps.

Since its 2011 debut, Delhi has served as the home base for Comic Con India, fueling the country's pop-culture movement. The festival offers workshops, panel sessions and networking opportunities, connecting enthusiasts with professionals through gaming tournaments, virtual-reality simulations, cosplay contests and artist showcases.

"Delhi will always be home for Comic Con India," said Akshat Rathee, co-founder and managing director of NODWIN Gaming. "This is where it all began in 2011, when a small group of fans, artists and creators turned a simple idea into a cultural movement."

Rathee highlighted Delhi's role as a cultural anchor for fandom, noting how the city nurtures both local creators and fans who travel from across the country. He cited the presence of comic book shops in Connaught Place and student festivals across campuses as evidence of the city's vibrant fan culture.

Shefali Johnson, chief executive of Comic Con India, emphasized the festival's emotional appeal. "Delhi Comic Con has always been close to my heart because of the fans who make it what it is," she said. "There is a warmth and excitement in Delhi that makes you feel like you are part of one big family."

Johnson said the festival's core mission centers on helping attendees discover stories, characters and communities that resonate with them.

Growing Market Shows Promise

Last year's Delhi Comic Con attracted more than 52,000 visitors and featured comedians Ashish Solanki, Ravi Gupta and Rohan Joshi, plus performances by Panther and rapper Fotty Seven. The event has hosted international creators including Ryan North, Jason Loo, Dan Parent and David Lloyd, as well as Japanese voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi and Natsuki Hanae.

Tickets for Delhi Comic Con 2025-26 are available on the District app, granting early access to workshops, meet-ups, and exclusive experiences.
