CD PROJEKT RED has announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 20, 2026. The announcement arrived with a new trailer for the 10-episode standalone anime, introducing a new cast and another story set in Night City.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Trailer Sets up for the Release
The new trailer offers a preview of the characters and the series' revenge and redemption themes. Its featured track, “A Rusty Dream,” was written, composed, arranged, and performed by DOUDOU and is scheduled to release on Aug 22, 2026.
The official website also gives viewers character profiles and details about the show's story and creators.
The site stands out for its interactive design, with teaser footage running in the background while elements such as “Watch Teaser” and “Add to My List” respond to cursor movement and clicks. Similar reactive details appear throughout Cyberpunk 2077, giving the website a stronger connection to the game’s world. Likewise, the trailer’s animation and layered sound design further reinforce the Cyberpunk atmosphere.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Brings a New Story to Night City
Created by CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 follows a new group of characters whose lives become intertwined across Night City. The story centers on Weak, a former edgerunner once known as King, who now lives without chrome while searching for a sense of purpose. D, a Snake Nation netrunner, pursues revenge after his clan is killed.
The cast also includes Roman Carax, a young cinephile documenting real stories in a city that has moved from filmmaking toward braindance, and Talia, who grew up in corporate towers before becoming involved with Maelstrom. The series explores dreams, family, obsession, regrets, legacy, and revenge through their connected stories.
Director Kai Ikarashi leads the anime, with Kanno Ichigo serving as lead character designer. Ikarashi previously directed Episode 6 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and has also contributed key animation and episode direction to projects including Promare and Heavenly Delusion. Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka, who were involved with the original Edgerunners, are also part of the creative team.
Cyberpunk Expands Beyond the Games
The anime arrives as CD PROJEKT RED continues expanding the Cyberpunk franchise beyond Cyberpunk 2077. During the first quarter of 2026, the game joined Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate, while the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game raised more than $28M USD on Kickstarter. The company reported PLN 191M (~$52M) in first-quarter revenue and PLN 106M (~$29M) in consolidated net earnings.
The broader slate also includes The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has surpassed 65M copies sold. CD PROJEKT is also developing Songs of the Past, a third expansion co-developed with Fool's Theory and scheduled to launch in 2027.
The new season expands Cyberpunk beyond the game, using a fresh cast and story to deepen Night City as a multimedia franchise.
