  • Post its Oscar and Grammy win, success for the KPop Demon Hunters track Golden seems to have bolstered even more.
  • The track has dominated Billboards while ranking on nine charts in total.
  • By breaking several stereotypes, Golden has recently secured a win in iHearts Radio Music Awards as well.

Golden from KPop Demon Hunters is not just capitalizing on its initial influence, but extending it. Days after winning the Best Original Song at the Academy Awards (Oscar), the Netflix hit's soundtrack is still dominating remarkably on the US radio, an area where K-pop has previously struggled to maintain its streak.

Performed by the fictional girl-group Huntr/x in the film, with the voices of Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami in the background, the track's numerous wins and telecasted performances potentially generated immediate chart traction. It shows a certain rare occurrence where a K-pop-based track has hardened into a fixture, instead of just fading away.

KPop Demon Hunters: Golden’s Radio Run Marks Adult Pop Breakthrough

On Billboard Adult Pop Airplay, Golden has now clocked 33 weeks, marking the longest run for any K-pop song. The track overtook Rosé and Bruno Mars’ collaborative venture APT. which logged a 32-week streak. The chart skews towards adult mainstream listeners who historically used to listen to songs other than K-pop.

Golden might have broken Rosé’s Billboard record, but its fictional group Huntr/x and the song have received multiple accolades in the iHeartRadio Music Awards alongside the BLACKPINK star and her song. By charting such success, the milestones show more about breaking a structural and cultural barrier, than showcasing its scale. Most importantly, the track's Adult Pop Airplay run made it climb to No.3 on the same chart.

This consistency further pushed Golden to No. 8 on Adult Contemporary, and No. 10 on Pop Airplay, illustrating the achievement of a rare top 10 hold mark across three major radio categories. The chart persistence also depicts that Golden has well maintained its high-velocity interest among a diverse range of audience in a market that is usually always looking forward to the "next big thing."

Golden Ranks on Multiple Billboard Charts At the Same Time

Golden's footprint across the Billboard's ecosystem is quite tight. It, simultaneously, sits on six other charts, including the Hot 100 (at No. 5), Streaming Songs and Radio songs (both at No. 8), Digital Song Sales (at No. 1), as well as the Global 200 and Global Ex-US charts (both at No. 2). And now with its 33-week run on the Hot 100 rankings, it reinforces K-pop's durability while also reflecting a broader shift within the industry.

Notably, Golden previously charted 8 weeks of success in the Hot 100 charts while also accumulating a billion streams on Spotify. By successfully transitioning its popularity into sustained radio play, the Oscar and Grammy winning song is no longer chasing the top spots, it is breaking through. It is doing something greater by bypassing the usual decay that plagues a hit.
