Highlights

  • TWICE Leader Jihyo's sister, Seoyeon, is all set to debut under HYBE's sublabel ABD, marking the company's first official release.
  • The HYBE debut is increasingly gaining more traction because of Seoyeon's relation to Jihyo, as well as the latter's next career move.
  • The seven-member act will add to HYBE's growing female roster, which already includes acts like Le Sserafim and Katseye.

HYBE, one of the largest corporate entities in the K-pop industry, officially unveiled details regarding their new group Tuide on July 20, 2026. The seven-member girl group is scheduled to debut later this year and will be managed under its newest sublabel, ABD. Tuide’s debut act will mark the first formal release from ABD, the subsidiary that was created to especially focus on female talent under HYBE’s corporate umbrella.

As per company statements cited by The Korea Herald, the group’s name “Tuide” was inspired by “Tune the tide.” The name aims to show the members’ intent to create a new wave of joy, while focusing on individual artistic identity within a unified ensemble. The production process will be overseen by veteran executive Han Sung-soo, who was also recognized by Billboard, while naming him as a top producer in their Indie Power Players list. Han Sung-soo is best known for looking after major acts like Seventeen, Iz*One, and TWS. With Tuide’s arrival, HYBE further grows its multi-label female lineup, which includes popular acts like Le Sserafim, NewJeans, Illit, and Katseye.

Tuide will also include Seoyeon as a member. Seoyeon is the younger sister of Jihyo from TWICE, a leading girl group act of JYP Entertainment. Interestingly, according to social media comments from fans, JYP’s TWICE and HYBE’s BTS share quite a professional and friendly relationship as top-tier industry peers. On many occasions, such as domestic award shows, group members from either side have been seen to sing along to each other’s songs. Some of the members from both groups were also seen participating in local variety shows together.

TWICE Leader Jihyo's JYP Exit Reports Coincide with Her Sister's HYBE Debut

The debut of the TWICE leader’s sister comes as Jihyo reportedly prepares to end her 21-year tenure at JYP Entertainment. According to a local media report from South Korea (JoyNews24), the 29-year-old artist, who spent years training at JYP before leading TWICE to global commercial prominence beginning in 2015, reportedly wishes to set up an agency of her own to manage her solo pursuits.

Jihyo is reportedly expected to be with JYP for TWICE’s group activities, while independently managing her solo career, a model which is also currently followed by BLACKPINK members. Such bifurcated contract models allow veteran idols to preserve their valuable group intellectual property while also building equity via their self-owned management businesses. Although JYP has not officially commented on this matter, many local media reports claimed contract-renewal discussions without mentioning any particular group or individual artist.

HYBE Expands Female Roster Under its Multi-Label Strategy Amid TWICE's Global Growth

TWICE is an extremely successful creative act of JYP. According to Billboard, last year, TWICE concluded a successful run in Australia with more than 50,000 tickets sold across Sydney and Melbourne for their THIS IS FOR tour. As per a Live Nation statement cited by Billboard, the event was the biggest production ever staged in the performing venues.

Concurrently, in April 2026, they completed a successful North American leg drawing approximately 550,000 fans for the same tour run. They also became the first overseas artist to headline solo concerts at the Japan National Stadium, bringing in a total audience of 240,000 fans across their sold-out THIS IS FOR shows.

And now, as the elder sister prepares to reshape her own professional footprint, with the younger one debuting at one of the top international entertainment agencies from Korea, the moves highlight two unique yet converging structural shifts within the industry. It shows how big labels like HYBE are increasingly expanding with specialized corporate sub-labels.

It highlights HYBE's continued commitment to its multi-label structure, where these individual subsidiaries operate with creative independence while also contributing to the original label's broader portfolio. The model provides HYBE the opportunity to debut new artists across various genres and markets, diversify its earnings beyond a single successful franchise, while continually refreshing its intellectual property pipeline. Notably, the strategy enabled the company to achieve its record annual revenue of ₩2.65 trillion (~ $1.84 billion USD) in 2025.
