Studio MAPPA released a special animated trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo (JJK ≡) on April 30, prior to the spin-off's third and final volume release in Japan. The animated trailer was produced by a dedicated production team under director and storyboard artist Shun Miyagawa.
According to an X post by AniTV, the special Modulo trailer has generated more than 10M views on social media within a few hours of its release. The trailer briefly introduces JJK Modulo, Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen spin-off that starts 68 years after the original series’ timeline.
MAPPA has positioned the Modulo trailer as a ‘commemoration special PV.’ There are no announcements about a full anime adaptation, as of writing. JJK Modulo ran for 25 chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump from Sep 8, 2025, to March 9, 2026.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Anime Trailer: Marketing Strategy Expands Beyond Broadcast
MAPPA’s Modulo trailer signals how production committees are reallocating animated resources beyond episodic releases. The trailer had a full production committee with veterans such as Sota Yamazaki and Sota Matsunaga, known for animation work in both Chainsaw Man and JJK.
The anime trailer commemorating JJK Modulo’s manga run will increase JJK’s visibility as the spin-off serialization ends and MAPPA prepares for the upcoming Culling Game Part 2 release. Creating short-form promotional animation allows high-demand studios like MAPPA to maintain visibility for franchise IPs without committing to full series production.
At the same time, the trailer works as MAPPA’s marketing strategy for the Modulo series. The first volume sold more than 190K copies, with Vol 2 selling 194.7K copies.
The trailer is designed to increase visibility among social media-first audiences and convert them into manga buyers. Additionally, the Modulo anime trailer highlights the intensifying competition within manga and anime marketing, where larger studios utilize resources for unique marketing campaigns to capture a fan base.
