Highlights

  • My Hero Academia has ranked as the Most In-Demand Anime Series of 2025, surpassing One Piece and Solo Leveling in global audience demand.
  • The series also placed third among all TV shows worldwide, competing with Squid Game, Stranger Things, and The Last of Us in Global Demand Awards data.
  • Backed by 100M+ manga sales and multiple seasons, films, and anniversary projects, the franchise shows strong long-term anime demand.

My Hero Academia has emerged as the “Most In-Demand Anime Series” globally in 2025, according to data released by the Global Demand Awards. The data released in the last week of December 2025 accumulates global demand data from Jan 1, 2025, to Nov 27, 2025, underscoring the franchise’s sustained popularity across streaming and audience engagement metrics through the year.

In the anime category, My Hero Academia topped the demand rankings, surpassing classics like One Piece and popular seasonal anime like Solo Leveling and Dandadan. Among the top five Most In-Demand Anime Series, Solo Leveling was the winner of Crunchyroll's Anime of the Year award 2025. Surpassing it in demand highlights how My Hero Academia maintained a broader and more consistent engagement globally despite not winning Crunchyroll’s award.

Beyond anime, My Hero Academia also placed third in the “Most In-Demand Overall TV Series in the World 2025” category, competing directly with global hits such as Squid Games, Stranger Things, and The Last of Us. The winner of both categories will be announced in January 2026; the date of which is yet to be announced.

My Hero Academia’s Sustained Global Demand

The Global Demand Awards positions itself as a way to "honor the most in-demand TV shows and movies of 2025,” across 25 categories. Unlike the traditional award system, the Global Demand Awards does not rely on judges or a voting system. It tracks audience demand data from Parrot Analytics and ranks television and streaming titles based on a composite of viewing behavior.

The demand performance in the Global Demand Awards list reflects more than a single release cycle. My Hero Academia currently holds an 8.2 IMDb score and a 7.83 My Anime List score, underscoring its strong popularity. The series finale, which aired in December 2025, was highly anticipated among fans, which potentially led to the demand across its global fanbase.

Since its debut in 2016, My Hero Academia has built an ecosystem spanning multiple anime seasons, films, and a manga that has consistently ranked among the best-selling series worldwide. According to Oricon and publisher disclosures, the manga has surpassed 100M copies in circulation globally by April 2024, placing it among the most commercially successful modern shōnen titles.

The global-demand milestone also arrives as My Hero Academia enters a new phase of its lifecycle. The current final season has officially ended, with new production updates, anniversary projects, live-action counterpart, and expanded spin-off initiatives in motion. With its 10-year anniversary project’s backdrop, the Global Demand Awards result reinforces the franchise’s aim to extend its relevance beyond its original serialization run.
