- Dorohedoro season 2 comeback helps Netflix retain engagement as Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game part 1 streaming cycle nears completion.
Netflix’s JJK replacement, Dorohedoro season 2, is officially returning after a six-year hiatus. The upcoming season will premiere on April 1, 2026, confirming the anime’s long-awaited continuation after its 2020 debut.
The dark fantasy adaptation, based on Q Hayashida’s manga, has been absent since its first season concluded in 2020. The newly released key visual and premiere date signal a strategic revival of Netflix’s anime slate as MAPPA’s Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) approaches the end of its current streaming cycle.
While Netflix does not hold global exclusivity on JJK season 3, the series has consistently ranked among the platform’s most-watched anime titles in multiple territories, according to regional Top 10 data. With the Culling Game part 1 expected to complete its streaming window by the end of March 2026, and Part 2 arriving sometime in June (as reported), the return of Dorohedoro positions Netflix to retain a dark, action-driven anime pillar within its catalog.
Netflix’s JJK Replacement, Dorohedoro: Production Details
Dorohedoro season 2 will be produced by MAPPA, the studio behind Season 1 and numerous high-profile anime properties, including Chainsaw Man and JJK. MAPPA’s continued involvement maintains stylistic continuity, with the hybrid 2D-CG animation approach that distinguished the original season.
Most of the original production cast and team members are expected to retain their positions. Yuichiro Hayashi will assume the position of series director, while Tomohiro Kishi and Hiroshi Seko handle character design and composition, respectively.
Miho Sugiura is overseeing Art direction, with Shinji Kimura working as World Designer. Fuminori Nomoto will handle the 3DCG segment of the upcoming Dorohedoro season. Akiko Fujita will direct the sound effects while (K)NoW_NAME will produce music.
The main voice cast will include Takagi Wataru (Kaiman), Kondo Reina (Nikaido), Horiuchi Kenyuu (Kemuri), Hosoya Yoshimasa (Kokoro), Kobayashi Yuu (Noi), Takanashi Kengo (Fujita), and Tomita Miyu (Ebisu). Along with the return of Dorohedoro, the announcement also highlighted expanded streaming of season 1 on various streaming platforms from March 8.
The return of Dorohedoro underscores Netflix’s need to reinforce its anime lineup as the platform faces pressure to sustain engagement once the Spring lineup ends streaming. While Dorohedoro differs in themes and narrative, its niche and dark-action framework offer Netflix a credible title to anchor the Summer 2026 slate.
