Amid Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer’s astounding success through global box offices, another anime movie is set to stun audiences sooner than expected, claimed a popular Reddit leak. The new movie in question is a part of the Solo Leveling franchise.

The franchise’s first movie, Solo Leveling: ReAwakening (2024), had a staggering $6,331,827 USD worldwide box office collection (reported by Box Office Mojo), although quite modest if compared to Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer. The rumored new second part of the movie is now anticipated to increase its success momentum, originating from the popularity of its regular seasonal anime format.

Reddit Leak Sparks Hype Around Solo Leveling Movie

Reddit user @Complex-Door-2509 had shared a screenshot of an X post having the username @RANSCPP, which claimed that the new movie is apparently confirmed and may be released in the second half of 2026. The Reddit user is reportedly known for providing confirmed leaks for the franchise since the inception of its first season.

Solo Leveling New Movie & its Upcoming Season 3

If a new Solo Leveling movie is confirmed, it is expected to follow along the ending of Season 2, which has already been released, and connect it to Season 3, which may be released in 2028. The release for season 3 has been hinted at by the co-producer Sota Furuhashi in an official tweet. Another Solo Leveling fan account on Twitter also noted that Season 3's budget has been increased by $1.5 million USD by investing in its Anime Production Committee.

Additionally, earlier this year, during a Reddit AMA on subreddit r/animation, co-producers Furuhashi and Atsushi Kaneko said,  “If you want a Season 3, it's the energy from all of you across the fan communities that will help make it happen.” This indicates that the fans worldwide may be able to see improved narrative pace, as well as better visuals. 

Expanding the Solo Leveling Universe

A D & C Media Marketing Report (the official publisher of Solo Leveling) has been widely circulating on social media, revealing that the publisher’s primary focus as of now is to concentrate on a Solo Leveling movie, instead of a new season. Apart from that, the report also explores the anticipated timeline and success of the movie, along with a proposal to expand its IP to new games and animated series, which further fuels the idea of a spin-off.

The news of a new Solo Leveling movie comes in after Netflix confirmed a live-action adaptation of the same, starring popular South Korean actor and model Byeon Woo-seok in the lead. Other actors like Han So-hee have also been reportedly confirmed for the project. 

Filmmakers Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo, known for their best works like, Ashfall, Cold Eyes, and Castaway on the Moon, are said to be the directors for the live-action. As of now, there is no confirmed release date, but an official concept trailer is available on YouTube.

Given the growth of the franchise, which initially started as a web novel and was later adapted into a manhwa before becoming an anime, shows how a new movie could bolster the franchise’s success. 

If the franchise decides to expand its IPs during this timeline and links the new movie to Season 3, it could change the release window of the next season. The process could either speed up or be pushed back, based on how the studio allocates its resources. As per industry observers, the movie could potentially delay Season 3 rather than accelerating it.
