In a global music economy where fleeting trends are common, BTS has once again showcased the sheer scale of its endurance. As per the latest data from Hanteo Chart, cited by Star News Korea, the septet has achieved a clean sweep across the United States, Japan, and China for the second week of April. This performance, covering the period of April 6 to April 12, redefines the group’s dominance in the international market as they achieved the highest placement in every national category.
BTS ARIRANG Extends Lead in the US
The American market experienced BTS ARIRANG’s iron grip on the peak for the fourth consecutive week, followed by their label-juniors CORTIS in second place with COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES. BTS reportedly earned 24,113.01 points while CORTIS’ figures stood at 15,180.69. Additionally, KPop Demon Hunters’ GOLDEN, sung by fictional group HUNTR/X, secured the third spot with 13,163.14 points.
BTS Earns Wider Margin in Japan
BTS topped Japan with even sharper margins than those of the US. The group claimed the top spot with ARIRANG bolstering 37,190.43 points. Their performance outpaced rookie group Kickflip’s My First Kick, which sat at second place with 9,258.98 points. Notably, Irene of Red Velvet landed at the third spot with her solo track Biggest Fan recording a score of 7,170.30.
K-pop Peaks with BTS in China Despite Barriers
Interestingly, China had the most remarkable numbers of the week. Securing another long-running streak at number one, BTS gained 66,893.5 points in a market where K-pop has been culturally restricted, said Star News Korea. Nevertheless, Maeil Business reported a slightly different composite score of 60,689.35 points. The competition in China, however, remained fierce, with IVE’s Revive Plus (REVIVE+) obtaining the second place at 19,711.87 points, while EXO’s Reverse (REVERXE) finished third with 15,691.55 points.
These rankings by Hanteo Chart are an outcome of big data collection technology that synthesizes global metrics for K-pop. These points or scores, also called “Jisoo” scores (not to be confused with BLACKPINK member Jisoo), encompass metrics from physical album sales, digital streaming, and social media activity.
