  • In the last few years, SEVENTEEN has achieved unparalleled consistency across several million-selling releases.
  • The group has surpassed even legacy groups like BTS and Twice and peers like Stray Kids and NCT DREAM in the rankings.
  • SVENTEEN’s 2025 album HAPPY BURSTDAY and consistent global rankings suggest a sustained appeal for the group.

SEVENTEEN has strengthened its supremacy in the physical music market, ranking first among all artists in terms of Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) album certifications. Based on recent industry data, the group now has 23 total certifications, putting it ahead of the competition in a market where high-volume sales are a key indicator of global success.

Since the KMCA debuted its Circle Chart monitoring system in 2018, granting Platinum at 250,000 units and Million status at seven figures, SEVENTEEN has led the market with a remarkable era-to-era consistency. Powered by multi-million-selling productions such as FML, Seventeenth Heaven, and Face the Sun, the group's 23 overall certifications put them at the top of a highly concentrated pantheon of strong guns that includes Stray Kids (21) and NCT DREAM (17).

TWICE and ENHYPEN occupy the upper tier with 16 each, followed by ATEEZ and TXT with 14, and NCT 127 with 12. The competitive scene remains intense, with THE BOYZ holding 11 certifications, seasoned and renowned acts BTS, MONSTA X, and ITZY each holding 10, even as fourth-generation groups such as NewJeans, IVE, and aespa continue their quick rise.

SEVENTEEN’s Strong 2025 Sales Performance Sustains Momentum

SEVENTEEN's competitive advantage has become more defined by "repeat scalability," which was further reinforced by their strong 2025 performance. The group’s HAPPY BURSTDAY sold 2.55 million copies, finishing as the second best-selling album in South Korea for the year. The release was well-received worldwide as well, reaching third position on the IFPI 2025 Global Album Sales Chart with 2.63 million pure sales. The project's course was marked by massive upfront popularity, with 2.5 million copies sold in its first month alone before increasing to 2.9 million cumulative sales by mid-2025.

This momentum is not a brief, momentary spike, but rather the result of persistent global consumption. SEVENTEEN was recently placed No. 14 on the IFPI Global Artist Chart 2025, their fifth consecutive year on the chart. Their past releases, like SPILL THE FEELS and 17 IS RIGHT HERE, also charted success previously on IFPI rankings.

SEVENTEEN's level of consistency follows their 2023 milestone, when FML became the best-selling album globally, with over 6 million copies sold, setting a new industry standard. As the K-pop industry grows, SEVENTEEN's 23 KMCA certifications and consistent presence on global sales lists remain the current benchmark for album-driven success.
