The Art of Solo Leveling Book is Set for August Release
The Art of Solo Leveling Book Arrives Amidst Manhwa Hiatus
The collection includes exclusive artwork, rough sketches by the late Jang Sung-rak, and behind-the-scenes commentary from the creator.
Highlights
- The Art of Solo Leveling will be released in South Korea in August 2026.
- The collection features previously unpublished sketches by late illustrator DUBU and creator Chugong’s commentary.
- The art book arrives during the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok manhwa’s hiatus.
Aladin Books confirmed on July 14 that the first official Solo Leveling art book will be published in South Korea during the first week of August. The art book, The Art of Solo Leveling, compiles artwork from the hit webtoon alongside previously unpublished production materials and creator commentary.
The Solo Leveling art book revisits the webtoon’s complete 179-episode run serving as a retrospective of the series’ visual journey. It offers fans a curated look at character designs, weapons, dungeons, and key illustrations that helped define the franchise.
Considering the description, The Art of Solo Leveling is positioned as a companion volume to the webtoon rather than new story content. The announcement on Aladin’s website accompanied a preorder event, which is running from July 14 to July 23, offering 1K KRW credit scores to 50 lucky winners.
What Can Fans Expect Inside The Art of Solo Leveling Book?
The official product description introduces The Art of Solo Leveling as a compilation of selected art alongside dungeon and character breakdowns. It also includes never-published-before rough sketches by the late illustrator Jang Sung-rak (DUBU), whose dynamic artwork became synonymous with the Solo Leveling manhwa before his death.
The release lands one week before the fourth anniversary of DUBU’s death on July 23, 2022. This gives the Solo Leveling art book project a retrospective weight beyond typical merchandise or guidebook expansion.
Additionally, the collection includes behind-the-scenes stories from original novelist Chugong. The Art of Solo Leveling will also feature congratulatory messages from fellow artists connected to the webtoon’s history.
The retailer has also confirmed that a bonus ‘Sung Jin-woo Lenticular Card’ will be included with the first print. The franchise bundled Lenticular Cards during the collaboration between the Solo Leveling: ARISE video game and Pelicana USA.
The timing also matters because of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s hiatus. The Solo Leveling sequel manhwa has been on hiatus since January 2026, following artist JIN’s mandatory military service.
The art book continues a busy expansion year for the franchise beyond the TV anime. Earlier this month, Aniplex and Crunchyroll announced the anime film Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, while the Solo Leveling exhibition has also begun expanding internationally following its debut in South Korea.
On the other hand, the live-action K-Drama based on this globally popular manhwa franchise has also started filming in May 2026. Netmarble has also expanded its Solo Leveling offering by unveiling Solo Leveling: Karma at Anime Expo 2026 on July 4.
