  • The collections feature 4K/60fps visuals, instant rewind, save-anywhere support, and the classic open-ended Toy Box mode.

Just in time for the theatrical release of Toy Story 5, Disney, Atari, and acclaimed preservation studio Digital Eclipse are teaming up to bring a massive dose of childhood nostalgia back to your gaming setups. On October 15, 2026, gamers can get their hands on two major retro releases: Toy Story: Retro Roundup! and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition. Launching across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo platforms, these carefully preserved releases mark the first time many of these childhood favorites will be playable on modern hardware.

As the name implies, Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is the ultimate interactive time capsule for 90s kids. The expansive digital bundle packs different versions of classic titles originally released across the SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and original PlayStation. Players will get the original 1995 Toy Story game, 1999's Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!, 2000's Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and 2001's Toy Story Racer. As a surprise bonus for completionists, the collection even throws in the long-unavailable 1998 video game adaptation of A Bug's Life.

Digital Eclipse, renowned for stellar collections like Atari 50, is packing this release with modern quality-of-life features. The updated gameplay experience includes instant rewind and retry functions for tricky platforming sections, the ability to save and load at any time, and modernized, localized instructions. For those who just want to have fun, Rex’s Cheat Code allows players to instantly unlock characters, levels, and bonus modes like invincibility and unlimited lives.

A 4K Remaster and the Return of Toy Box Mode

You can also utilize a Practice Mode with guided playthroughs, toggle between high-resolution graphical upgrades or a classic PS1 visual filter. Alongside the retro compilation, Atari is delivering Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, a dedicated, upscaled remaster of the cult-classic 2010 adventure game, as per Polygon.

Fans lovingly remember this title for its open-ended Toy Box mode, a vibrant Wild West sandbox that served as the precursor to the Disney Infinity toys-to-life series. This definitive edition will bring the adventure to current-generation consoles with a crisp 4K resolution running at a smooth 60 frames per second on supported hardware.

Players can dive back into the action-packed Story Mode, journeying from Andy’s Room to Sunnyside Daycare with dynamic, on-the-fly character swapping and local co-op capabilities. The remaster also natively integrates downloadable content, allowing fans to freely explore the customizable Toy Box mode as the Evil Emperor Zurg. With accessible controls and light platforming, the game promises a creative, low-pressure experience for newcomers while retaining all its depth and charm for longtime fans.

When these titles launch this fall, gamers will have multiple purchasing options that buck the trend of today's heavily digital-only market. Digitally, Toy Story: Retro Roundup! and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition will be sold separately for $24.99 USD each on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch 2.

Capitalizing on Toy Story 5's Theatrical Release

For physical game collectors, a combined physical box set containing both collections will retail for just $39.99 USD on PlayStation consoles and the original Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, the specialized physical Nintendo Switch 2 version will retail for $49.99 USD. This pricing strategy makes the physical two-in-one bundle significantly cheaper than buying both digital games separately.

This synchronized gaming rollout perfectly capitalizes on the massive box office hype surrounding Toy Story 5, which arrives in theaters on June 19 2026. Directed by Andrew Stanton, the new film reunites Woody and Buzz as they square off against a disruptive modern tablet device named Lilypad.

By tying these beloved interactive classics directly to a generational cinematic premiere, Disney and Atari are delivering the ultimate love letter to gamers and honoring three decades of Pixar history.
