Highlights

  • House House's co-op adventure Big Walk surpassed 1 million sales in just six days, far outpacing the launch velocity of Untitled Goose Game.
  • Published by Panic, the indie hit achieved massive commercial success across PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PS5 despite also launching as a free PlayStation Plus title.
  • The multiplayer game received universal acclaim for its relaxed open-world puzzles, securing an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam.

Australian indie developer House House has another massive hit on its hands. Big Walk, the studio's latest co-op adventure, has sold over 1 million copies in just six days since its launch on August 4, 2026. Publisher Panic announced the massive milestone, confirming the game is moving at a wildly faster commercial velocity than the studio's 2019 breakout hit, Untitled Goose Game.

What makes this swift success truly remarkable is that the actual player count is likely much higher than one million. Big Walk launched simultaneously as a free monthly title for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers. This means countless PlayStation 5 players are diving in at no extra cost, yet this day-one availability seemingly only amplified awareness rather than cannibalizing paid sales. Driven by strong demand on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as the Nintendo Switch 2, the game achieved in six days what took Untitled Goose Game roughly three months to accomplish.

On Steam alone, Big Walk reached a peak concurrent player count of 46,409 over its opening weekend. The game's momentum places it firmly among the biggest breakthrough indie hits of 2026. While it didn't quite match the explosive speed of the PC-exclusive Meccha Chameleon, which sold a million copies in just four days, it comfortably outpaced other heavy hitters. Another PC exclusive, Mewgenics, took eight days to hit the one-million mark, while the highly anticipated Mina the Hollower took 11 days to sell 500,000 copies across all major platforms.

Steam

A Uniquely Relaxed Multiplayer Experience

Moving entirely away from the chaotic solo gameplay of a horrible goose, Big Walk leans into a uniquely relaxed multiplayer experience. The game drops anywhere from two to 12 players into an expansive shared open world where active combat is replaced by quiet exploration, conversation, and environmental puzzles, as per PC Gamer.

Arriving at a time when free-ranging co-operative games are all the rage, it proves that a co-op-only experience with no matchmaking can achieve mainstream sales velocity through strong word-of-mouth and a clear, engaging hook.

Reviews have been unanimously positive, boasting an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam based on over 11,000 user reviews and a 94 aggregate score on Metacritic, with fans praising the game's stress-free environment. Publisher Panic echoed this sentiment in a public post, thanking fans for spreading the game across social platforms through gameplay streams and fan art. For players looking to take a stroll with their friends, the game's 25% launch discount is currently still valid on Steam.
