- Fortnite could cross over with Overwatch in an unexpected collaboration.
- The crossover is rumored to arrive within the next three months.
- The pairing would be rare for two active live-service shooters.
Fortnite could add Overwatch-themed content in the next three months, according to a report from leaker ShiinaBR posted on X on Jan. 24, 2026. The claimed crossover would bring together two active hero shooters that compete for the same player base.
ShiinaBR, who has correctly reported multiple Fortnite collaborations before they were announced, said the content would arrive before the end of February 2026. Neither Epic Games nor Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed the partnership.
The leak suggests three Overwatch characters will appear: Tracer, Genji, and Mercy. Details on whether the content will be released as an in-game event or Item Shop cosmetics remain unspecified.
Fortnite and Overwatch Crossover Would Challenge Live-Service Conventions
Crossovers between active live-service games are uncommon. Fortnite and Overwatch 2 both use seasonal battle passes, cosmetic monetization, and target similar player demographics. Most game crossovers involve dormant franchises or single-player titles that don't directly compete for player spending.
Fortnite has expanded collaborations with entertainment properties including The Office, South Park, Adventure Time, and Juice WRLD, as well as video game franchises such as Street Fighter, Halo, God of War, Resident Evil, and Fallout. Blizzard has historically limited Overwatch crossovers to external brands outside the hero-shooter genre.
The reported partnership would test whether competing live-service games can successfully collaborate despite overlapping business models and audiences.
