  • Malhaar's trailer was not shown during the India Games Showcase 2026.
  • Developer Coffee For Two said the omission was caused by a mistake.
  • Organizers have responded and will offer another showcase appearance for the game in a future event.

Indian indie title Malhaar was unexpectedly absent from the India Games Showcase presentation during Summer Game Fest 2026, despite being one of the games selected for the event. Following the showcase, developer Coffee For Two addressed the situation on social media, revealing that the game's trailer had not been included in the broadcast.

The studio wrote, "Due to a mistake, Malhaar's trailer was not premiered at India Games Showcase yesterday. While we are saddened, we are excited to finally share it with you today."

India Games Showcase served as one of the largest platforms for domestic studios to present their projects to a global audience during Summer Game Fest 2026. Nodding Heads Games, the studio behind Raji and the organizer of the India Games Showcase, has also responded to Outlook Respawn about the situation.

India Games Showcase Confirms Editing Error

In a statement provided to Outlook Respawn, Nodding Heads Games confirmed that Malhaar's omission was caused by an internal editing mistake. Co-founder Avichal Singh said, "We unfortunately missed including the title 'Malhaar' due to an editing error on our end. We sincerely regret the oversight and have apologized to the developer. As a corrective step, we have also secured their participation in another showcase later this year, which is of similar or greater stature. We fully recognize that this error should not have happened, and our team is committed to ensuring greater care and diligence going forward."

What is Malhaar?

Developed by Coffee For Two, Malhaar is a narrative-driven life simulation game centered around Indian classical music and folklore. Players inherit their grandfather's workshop in the town of Sindhu and must learn to play the sitar while preserving a family legacy of musicians and instrument makers. The story revolves around mastering Raga Malhaar (a traditional musical framework about rain) within a month to bring rain and save the world's fading spirits.

Alongside learning ragas and performing music, players will craft and tune instruments, help customers at a local dhaba, contribute to community projects, interact with townsfolk and spirits, and explore the town at their own pace. The game also features life-simulation elements such as managing mood, resting, eating, caring for animals, and participating in relaxing activities like kite flying and carnival attractions.

Although the trailer did not appear during the India Games Showcase broadcast, Coffee For Two has since released it publicly, giving players their first look at the upcoming title.
