KRAFTON India has launched ‘BGMI Campus MVP,’ a 90-day program that aims to expand Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) communities across engineering colleges. The initiative brings together 150 student ambassadors from 17 IITs and 28 NITs, who will lead tournaments, host offline meetups, create gaming content, and grow campus engagement.
The program received more than 16K applications from over 5K institutions nationwide.
KRAFTON selected all ambassadors for the inaugural cohort and shortlisted another 100 students as a reserve pool. The selected students have completed onboarding and have already begun organizing Classic Matches and community activities.
BGMI Campus MVP Rolls Out in Three Phases
The Campus MVP program runs from July 15 to Oct 14, 2026, and is divided into three phases:
- Phase 1 (July 15 to Aug 14): Player onboarding, Classic Match sessions, and at least two in-game content reels.
- Phase 2 (Aug 15 to Sep 14): Team Deathmatch tournaments, one offline campus meetup, and expanding each ambassador's player base to 20 members.
- Phase 3 (Sep 15 to Oct 14): Inter-department tournaments, followed by national inter-institute rivalry matches in October 2026.
BGMI has grown beyond gameplay into a platform where players "compete, create content, build friendships and form communities," stated Srinjoy Das, Director of Marketing and Product Management at KRAFTON India. He added that Campus MVP aims to help students lead gaming communities while creating more opportunities to connect through play.
Campus MVP Rewards Support KRAFTON India's Growth Strategy
Ambassadors earn rank points by completing program tasks. Rewards include welcome kits, food and e-commerce vouchers, in-game UC, trigger sets, premium headphones, and a Level 3 backpack. The top five ambassadors nationwide will receive rewards worth up to INR 15K.
Meanwhile, students participating in the competitions can also earn food vouchers, premium vouchers, and BGMI merchandise during different phases of the program.
Campus MVP is KRAFTON India's latest community initiative following BGMI's fifth anniversary, which expanded creator partnerships, and live experiences such as HOT DROP. The company reported that learnings from the first cohort will help expand the program to more institutions.
BGMI has crossed 260M downloads in India, according to the company. Beyond its flagship battle royale title, KRAFTON India's portfolio also includes CookieRun India, Bullet Echo India, Road To Valor: Empires, and Real Cricket. Since 2021, the company has invested more than $250M USD in Indian startups spanning esports, gaming, interactive entertainment, and technology.
The company also supports game development through the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI), which provides funding, mentorship, and strategic guidance to emerging developers. Separately, it launched the INR 6K Cr KRAFTON India Unicorn Growth Fund with NAVER and Mirae Asset to accelerate the growth of high-potential Indian startups.
