Nintendo could soon reveal more of its upcoming lineup. Industry insider Nate the Hate has claimed that a new Nintendo Direct presentation is scheduled for next week.
In a recent YouTube video, Nate said he expects the showcase to take place during the second week of June 2026. Discussing Nintendo's future plans, he indicated that players will get answers very soon and added that the Direct is expected in "the week of the 8th." However, Nintendo has not announced a presentation, meaning the report remains a rumor.
Nintendo Direct Could be First General Showcase Since September
If the event takes place, it would be Nintendo's first major general Direct in nine months. The last one aired in September 2025 and focused on the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo has hosted nine presentations since then. Yet, those broadcasts were limited to Partner Showcases, Indie World events, Pokémon Presents, and streams focused on individual projects such as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Kirby Air Riders, Star Fox, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Switch 2 Lineup Leaves Room for More Announcements
Nintendo's confirmed first-party release schedule currently extends only a few months ahead:
- Star Fox (Switch 2) - June 25, 2026
- Rhythm Heaven Groove (Nintendo Switch) - July 2, 2026
- Splatoon Raiders (Switch 2) - July 23, 2026
- Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave (Switch 2) - Later in 2026
The limited slate has fueled speculation about what additional titles Nintendo could reveal in a future Direct presentation.
If a Nintendo Direct takes place next week, it could provide the first detailed look at the company's plans beyond its currently announced releases. The presentation could also clarify Nintendo's software roadmap for Switch 2 through the rest of 2026.
