Highlights

  • Valve reports 5,863 Steam titles surpassed $100K in revenue in 2025, up from around 3K in 2020.
  • Steam reached 42M peak concurrent users and 13.9M in-game players.
  • Steam Daily Deals featured 1.5K+ titles in 2025.

Valve says thousands of developers are generating meaningful revenue on Steam as the platform’s audience expands. Speaking at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) Festival of Gaming on March 10, 2026, Valve shared new data on developer earnings on Steam. The company noted that 5,863 games released on the platform in 2025 earned more than $100K in revenue.

The figures were presented by Steam Business team member, Tom Giardino, and Valve communications lead, Kaci Aitchison Boyle. Valve stated the number reflects steady growth in developer success on the PC storefront.

In 2020, roughly 3K games reached the same $100K threshold, showing the figure has nearly doubled over five years.

Valve also shared new player activity data. The platform recently surpassed 42M peak concurrent users running the Steam client, marking a new record. At the same time, 13.9M players were simultaneously in-game, another peak for the platform.

Giardino said those figures are “good news” for developers, noting that the number of successful games is rising alongside player growth.

Steam Daily Deals and User Growth Support Developer Revenue

Valve highlighted updates to Steam’s Daily Deals system as one example of changes aimed at improving visibility for games. The company expanded deal slots, added stronger personalization, and gave developers access to Steam’s internal calendar to select promotion dates.

In 2025, more than 1.5K titles were featured in Daily Deals, with 69% appearing in the promotion for the first time. However, Valve reported that 8.2M customers purchased at least one Daily Deal, a 125% year-over-year (YoY) increase.

Giardino said the update reflects Valve’s broader strategy of expanding opportunities on the platform. He added that the trend remains consistent at higher thresholds, including “$500,000 per year and $1 million per year.”

According to Valve, revenue generated through Daily Deals increased 274% YoY, exceeding the platform’s overall user and revenue growth. The company pointed out the changes allowed “way more games” to participate in promotions, enabling more developers to earn income from the storefront.
