Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., has reaffirmed the Nov 19, 2026, release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI). With a global marketing campaign starting this summer, the confirmation highlights the publisher’s confidence in the development of its most anticipated title.
The news came as part of Take-Two’s latest earnings release and investor call on Feb 4, 2026. CEO Strauss Zelnick tied the confirmed release date of GTA VI to expectations of future revenue growth, projecting “record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2027” once the game launches.
GTA VI’s previously confirmed release dates in 2025 were changed twice. This time, however, Zelnick emphasized the company's confidence in the upcoming launch while talking with IGN’s Rebekah Valentine. He stressed that whenever a company is “getting closer to marketing beats,” they are confident enough about the launch.
Zelnick has also confirmed that while the company has used AI pilots to increase efficiency and better cost management, they have not used AI in GTA VI development. Generative AI was only used for operational support.
Franchise Momentum Sets the Stage for GTA VI
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has remained one of the most resilient gaming IPs, consistently contributing to Take-Two’s recurring revenue. In its fiscal third-quarter earnings release, Take-Two reported total Net Bookings of $1.76 billion USD, a 28% year-over-year increase, supported by recurring consumer spending across top franchises, including Grand Theft Auto Online, Grand Theft Auto V, and other legacy titles.
In November 2025, Zelnik positioned GTA V as the third most-selling game ever, which has continued to support Take-Two’s revenue growth over the decade. During the earnings release, the company confirmed that the title has sold over 225M copies globally.
The earnings report reinforces earlier guidance that GTA VI will serve as a major revenue driver. Take-Two’s decision to begin marketing it in the summer will also reignite players’ interest, which might have dulled due to the prolonged delay.
As of now, Take-Two has confirmed nine major releases in its future lineup, including 2K’s WWE 2K26 and Zynga’s CSR 3. Among them, the sole GTA title, GTA VI, is confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S.
