BLACK TORCH Blends Ninja Action With Supernatural Fantasy
Takaki’s BLACK TORCH follows Jiro Azuma, a shinobi descendant who can communicate with animals. His life changes after rescuing Rago, a mysterious mononoke disguised as a black cat. When the pair merge, Jiro gains supernatural abilities and is drawn into a hidden war against menacing spirits.
The TV anime is directed by Kei Umabiki, with Gigaemon Ichikawa handling series composition and scripts. The anime’s world premiere is set to screen at Anime Expo 2026, alongside the screening of other upcoming Summer anime, including Saga of Tanya the Evil season 2, Bleach TYBW, and Mushoku Tensei, ahead of its streaming debut. The Anime Expo screening positions BLACK TORCH as one of the season’s higher-profile bets.
