Highlights

  • The BTS Netflix concert 2026 drew 18.4M viewers, beating the Grammys and the VMAs broadcast numbers.
  • The concert’s record viewership across 80 countries highlights the power of streaming platforms in delivering global live audiences.
  • The success of Netflix live events signals a shift away from traditional broadcasts toward platform-driven global entertainment experiences.

The BTS comeback concert, titled BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang, recorded 18.4M global viewers on Netflix, according to data provided by the streamer. The figure combines real-time viewers from the March 21 livestream at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square and those who watched within the following 24 hours.

The BTS Netflix concert 2026 outpaced the 2026 Grammy Awards' 14.41M viewers on CBS and Paramount+. It also tripled the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards' 5.5M across CBS, MTV, and Paramount+. The record performance marks a significant moment for streaming platforms, as a live concert outperformed traditional music broadcasts in terms of audience reach.

Variety reported that the figure includes global live viewership across 80 countries, with it topping Netflix Top 10 in 24 regions. Arirang was also the most-watched non-English-language TV title and the third-most-watched title on Netflix’s Global  Top 10 chart which aggregates viewership data across all countries.

The concert was staged at the historic Gwanghwamun Square, a site located near the Joseon Dynasty's royal palace; and became the first standalone concert to be held there. It drew over 100K in-person attendees, proving BTS’ crowd pull capacity, despite a long hiatus.

BTS Comeback Concert Global Viewership Significance

The viewership contrast with U.S. awards television is striking. The 2025 VMAs, which delivered a six-year high viewership record, was surpassed by BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang’s viewership. On the other hand, Grammy’s, arguably the most prominent music awards show, also recorded less audience than BTS’ standalone concert.

Netflix also reported that BTS-related content on its official channels recorded 2.62B impressions, with hashtags linked to the event trending in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, India, Turkey, and Argentina. Netflix will premiere the behind-the-scenes documentary BTS: The Return on March 27, building on the comeback's commercial momentum.

The BTS comeback concert’s global viewership also coincided with a record-breaking album performance. Arirang reached 110M Spotify streams on its first day, doubling Harry Styles' 2026 opening record to claim the No. 1 debut of the year thus far. The album, Arirang, sold 3.98M copies within its first 24 hours.

The performance of the BTS Netflix concert 2026 not only reflects BTS’ popularity, but also a shift toward platform-driven live entertainment. Streaming services are increasingly positioning live events as a tool to boost engagement, reduce churn, and expand global reach beyond traditional broadcast limitations.
