Highlights

  • Five HYBE acts, including BTS, ENHYPEN, and TXT, have ranked high on Oricon mid-year charts.
  • Although HYBE acts dominated five slots, the remaining five positions have been claimed by Japanese artists.
  • BTS' more than 800,000 points and HYBE's widespread chart penetration showcase the label's robust staying power in the Japanese market.

South Korean entertainment giant HYBE has gained a rare hold in the traditionally exclusive Japanese music market, seizing half of the top 10 spots on Oricon’s 2026 mid-year album charts. Led by a historic performance from BTS, this sweep marks the first time a foreign entertainment company has established such a deep, systematic control over Japan's domestic music rankings.

As per data released by Oricon on June 25, tracking sales from December 8, 2025, to June 7, 2026, HYBE labels secured five positions in both the Album Ranking and Combined Album Ranking categories. With local Japanese artists claiming the remaining five slots, the result showcases how effective HYBE's decentralized multi-label framework is for international market penetration.

BTS’ ARIRANG Dominates Oricon Mid-Year Charts

Big Hit Music’s BTS spearheaded the chart performance with their fifth studio album, ARIRANG, the group’s first full-group release in nearly four years. Notably, ARIRANG secured a double crown by peaking both the physical and combined album charts. Gaining over 800,000 points, it became the third highest scoring album in Oricon history, trailing only domestic acts King & Prince and Snow Man. Notably, the group had also seized the top position in the Digital Album Ranking category.

Through this milestone, BTS became the first by a non-Japanese artist to top the combined chart. In a statement shared through Oricon, BTS said, “ARIRANG is our first album in three years and nine months since our last full-group release. It is truly an honor and joy to see this album, which captures the 'current BTS', receiving so much love.”

HYBE Dominates Japan’s Music Market

As stated earlier, the success momentum extended across HYBE’s broader portfolio. YX Labelz’ &TEAM secured third on the Combined Album Ranking and Album Ranking with We on Fire. They were followed closely by Belift Lab’s ENHYPEN at number four, with THE SIN: VANISH with Big Hit’s Tomorrow X Together (TXT), and Pledis Entertainment’s rookie group TWS rounding out the top 10.

TXT achieved this success with their album 7TH YEAR: When the Wind Paused Briefly in the Thorn Bush, while TWS earned the position with NO TRAGEDY. This regional dominance was also reflected on the Billboard Japan mid-year Top Album Sales chart, where the same HYBE artists similarly commanded five of the top 10 placements, led yet again by BTS.

For industry stakeholders, the data shows that HYBE’s strategy of supporting independent production capabilities does not dilute brand power but multiplies it. By nurturing unique musical identities under a single umbrella, the company has standardized a repeatable competitive edge within the world’s second-largest music market.
