Netflix has announced a global celebratory campaign to mark the first anniversary of KPop Demon Hunters, its 2025 record-breaking animated film. Pre-celebrations kicked off on June 10 ahead of the official anniversary date of June 20, the one-year milestone since the film’s debut on the platform.
The campaign includes theatrical screenings, free outdoor events, Netflix House activations, and merch drops across the United States and 15 other countries, according to Netflix. The company stated that additional “anniversary updates, releases, events,” will be notified through this week.
KPop Demon Hunters' milestone carries significance beyond a typical anniversary campaign. Following its debut, KPop Demon Hunters gradually evolved into Netflix’s most popular film. It produced chart-topping music, won Academy Awards, and inspired expansion plans across publishing, live events, and a confirmed sequel.

The anniversary campaign reflects Netflix’s intention to sustain KPop Demon Hunters as a multi-platform franchise beyond streaming. It has already expanded as a comic box set, and collaborations with companies such as McDonald’s.
To celebrate KPop Demon Hunters’ one-year anniversary, initiatives such as a month-long concert tour and the film-based special pop-up event were celebrated across South Korea, spanning May. Now, with the official global event, the film’s trajectory is evolving from its streaming background to a live touring property. The upcoming KPop Demon Hunters sequel is currently in development at Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation.
