Highlights

  • My Hero Academia returns in 2026 with a special epilogue episode and a global concert tour.
  • Studio Bones revealed four new projects to celebrate the anime's 10th anniversary.
  • The franchise continues with a Vigilantes sequel despite the main series concluding

Just when fans thought the journey was over, My Hero Academia is proving it still has plenty of "Plus Ultra" spirit left. Jump Festa 2026 on December 20, announced a massive return for 2026. Despite the main anime concluding its eighth season recently and the manga ending in 2024, Studio Bones and Toho revealed plans for four major projects that will keep the series alive well into next year.

The highlight of these announcements is a brand-new special episode titled My Hero Academia: More, scheduled for release on May 2, 2026. This animation serves as an extended epilogue, finally bringing Chapter 431 of Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga to the screen. While Season 8 covered the climactic finale against villains like All For One and Shigaraki, it omitted this specific chapter.

The new special will take place eight years after the main storyline, showcasing the adult lives of Izuku Midoriya and Class 1-A as fully realized Pro Heroes. Fans can expect to see previously cut moments, including the much-anticipated date between Deku and Ochaco. The episode will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll for international audiences on the same day it airs in Japan.

Global Concert Tour And 10th Anniversary Celebration

Beyond the new anime content, the franchise is launching a global event titled "My Hero Academia in Concert." This world tour will feature a live orchestral performance of the iconic soundtrack composed by Yuki Hayashi, synchronized with memorable scenes from the anime. The tour is set to kick off in Japan on May 30, 2026, at the Pacifico Yokohama before expanding to international venues later in the year.

To further mark the 10th anniversary, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi unveiled a new visual featuring ten different versions of Deku, tracing his evolution from a quirkless student to the world's greatest hero.

While two of the four planned projects have been confirmed, the remaining two appear to be shrouded in mystery. Theories suggest a film could focus on adult Deku and Bakugo fighting side-by-side or explore the narrative where Deku receives a new hero suit from All Might. Others speculate the final project could be something smaller, like a global popularity poll, though nothing is official yet.

The franchise shows no signs of slowing down early in the year, either. The second season of the spinoff series My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is confirmed to premiere in January 2026. These announcements come shortly after the bittersweet conclusion of the main anime in December 2025. This finale officially closed the book on the core anime adaptation, following the conclusion of the original manga run in 2024.

As the series celebrates a decade of broadcasting, these new additions ensure that Izuku Midoriya’s legacy continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
