  • ONE PIECE BASE SHOP halted sales after severe opening-day issues.
  • Crowd control failures disrupted operations, forcing authorities to publicly apologize.
  • Affected fans will receive compensation through exclusive online sales.

The ONE PIECE BASE SHOP, the much-anticipated official flagship store, encountered issues just a day after opening in Shinjuku Marui. The problems were so severe that management halted all item sales and issued a formal apology.

The store launched on December 5 on the 4th floor of the Shinjuku Marui Main Building. However, what was supposed to be an exhibition of immersive fandom experience quickly turned into an operational disaster.

As per the company’s statement shared through the official ONE PIECE BASE SHOP's X account, significant errors in capacity planning and on-site handling led to this fiasco. These issues left guests waiting, confused, and, in some cases, unable to reach designated buying areas.

The officials further stated that they were unable to ensure efficient visitor flow or fair access beginning December 6, resulting in an immediate halt of item sales, new reservations, and re-reservations. The apology recognizes the extent of disruption for what was marketed as a milestone event.

Is the ONE PIECE BASE SHOP Totally Closed?

The store isn't fully closed; some activities are still live, even when retail sales are suspended. Guests can still enter the area, take photos, and browse the displays without purchasing anything.

Apart from that, the Original T-Shirt Print service remains available through the same lottery system as on the first day, which means that only lottery winners can create and purchase shirts. The purchase-right lottery for the ONE PIECE BASE SHOP is still live, allowing winners to shop inside a controlled 4F lottery zone.

Reportedly, the ONE PIECE PLAY GROVE (Gashapon) is entirely accessible except for two items, "Mame Gasha Hon ONE PIECE Vol. 1-5" and "ONE PIECE DXF THE GRANDLINE SERIES Miniature Collection." Meanwhile, the 1F ONE PIECE BASE LUCKY PORT remains fully accessible.

The shop will pay affected fans and customers, including those who visited on December 5 and those who made reservations from December 6 onward.  They'll offer exclusive online sales of their unique stuff, allowing fans to get the items they missed.
