Solo Leveling studio A-1 Pictures posted a net profit of ¥91 million (~$562.23K USD) for the fiscal year ending March 2026, returning to a positive territory after a turbulent 2024. The news circulated after Japan’s Official Gazette disclosed A-1 Pictures’ Financial Statement Announcement on June 29, 2026.
According to the data disclosed in Gamebiz’s reporting, A-1 Pictures’ net income for the period spanning April 2025 to March 2026 was ¥91.649M. The animation studio currently has total net assets of 767.74M.
The financial result marks a sharp turnaround from the previous fiscal year, when the Aniplex-owned studio posted a net loss of ¥178M (~$1.09M), its highest annual deficit in a decade. For context, A-1’s most profitable year on record was the fiscal period ending March 2016, when earnings reached approximately ¥350M (~$2.16M).
Solo Leveling Studio A-1 Pictures: From Decade-Low to Recovery in 2026
A-1 Pictures’ FY2025 deficit drew industrywide scrutiny because of its timing. Solo Leveling, produced by A-1 during that reporting period, was confirmed as Crunchyroll’s most-viewed anime of all time. Solo Leveling also swept the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, winning Anime of the Year, Best New Series, Best Action Anime, and Best Main Character.
On the other hand, the FY2026 recovery was achieved without a comparable franchise tentpole. Key productions during this period included Kaguya-sama: Love Is War - Stairway to Adulthood, Fate/strange Fake, the theatrical release Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love TABOO NIGHT Xxxx, and the anime film The Guardian of the Camphor Tree.
A-1 operates as a production subcontractor under Aniplex. Apart from the loss in FY2025, the animation studio has also been observing low profits from FY2019. A-1 Pictures is currently working on the next season of the Solo Leveling anime.
Beyond the dedicated Solo Leveling panel, A-1 will host a panel at Anime Expo 2026 on July 3. The panel will feature an early screening of the original project GROW UP SHOW: Sunflower Circus, alongside updates on Mashle: Magic and Muscles and Sword Art Online.
