Kagurabachi Anime Locks In Crunchyroll Deal, New Voice Cast

Kagurabachi anime has revealed two major updates ahead of its Anime Expo debut, confirming Crunchyroll as its international streaming partner and voice cast for sorcerer Togo Shiba. Crunchyroll will simulcast the anime globally when the series premieres in April 2027.

The streaming deal covers every territory except for Japan, mainland China, and South and North Koreas. Kagurabachi’s streaming details arrived alongside the casting reveal of actor Katsuyuki Konishi as Shiba.

Konishi is a veteran voice actor, known for voicing popular characters such as Laxus (Fairy Tail), Diavolo (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure), and Tengen (Demon Slayer). The anime’s official site published a new character visual and trailer, introducing the character, on June 26.

Who is Togo Shiba in Kagurabachi anime?

Togo Shiba is one of the earliest allies Chihiro Rokuhira encounters in Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi manga. Shiba appears as early as the manga’s first chapter, as the story establishes Chihiro’s quest to recover the stolen Enchanted Blades.

Shiba is a former Kamunabi sorcerer and longtime friend of Chihiro’s father, Kunishige Rokuhira, in the narrative. Following Kunishige’s death, he became a guide and mentor to Chihiro, and his influence becomes one of the most prominent forces that shapes the protagonist.

He helps Chihiro recover a set of stolen Enchanted Blades and track down the assassin organization Hishaku, appearing across most of Kagurabachi’s major arcs to date. Konishi said in a statement released with the character reveal that after reading the manga's first volume, “I absolutely wanted to be a part of it.” He also emphasized his enthusiasm for the full anime release.

Following the confirmation of Konishi, Kagurabachi anime now has three confirmed cast members. The anime has already confirmed Taihi Kimura as Chihiro and Tomokazu Seki as Kunishige.

The latest announcements further outline CyberAgent’s rollout strategy for Kagurabachi anime. The phased information release will result in increasing visibility, and will engage future audiences more, as they keep anticipating the next update from the anime’s production.

The company is already treating the anime as a global property with the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour promoting the anime across international markets. The tour starts on July 3 at Anime Expo 2026 (LA), and goes on till 2027, when the anime screens the full first episode in Japan before its streaming and TV premiere.

On June 26, a new destination was added to the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour. Following AnimagiC in Germany, the tour will head to Otakon in Washington DC, on Aug 2.

Since its publication on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, Hokazono’s dark fantasy manga Kagurabachi has remained a fan-favourite due to its action-heavy character-driven plot. It was also nominated for the Shogakukan and Kodansha manga awards after winning the Next Manga Award in the print category in 2024. The April 2027 premiere stands as the next growth phase for a manga that has amassed over 4M copies across 11 collected volumes.
