That letter triggers a trail of clues and more letters, prompting Sori towards a heartfelt journey of healing, self-discovery, and connection.
Your Letter anime movie is based on Hyeon A Cho’s Korean webtoon of the same name, serialized in Naver Webtoon (English version is available on LINE Webtoon) in 2018. It ran for 12 chapters before concluding as a single-volume story praised for its high-impact storytelling and emotionally grounded narrative. The webtoon ended up earning a 9.98 rating during its run.
Your Letter Anime Movie Production and Distribution
The Your Letter webtoon adaptation was directed by Kim Yong-hwan, with Jeong Eun-kyeong writing the script and Kim Tae-seong composing the music. Production began in 2019, with Kim Min-ju, Lee Su-hyun, and Min Seung-woo forming the main voice cast.
Your Letter movie was first screened at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in Sep 2024. Later at the Bucheon International Animation Festival, the film adaptation won three prizes, including the Best Music and Jury Award for Feature Film. The film adaptation, produced by South Korean studios Studio N and Studio Lico released in South Korea on Oct 1, 2025.
Following the critical acclaim and domestic success, the distributor decided to ‘presale’ the movie in 166 countries across Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas. The global rollout started on Oct 10, starting with Vietnam before opening in other Asian markets.
The movie will be distributed in Indian cinemas in the original Korean language with English subtitles, and tickets will be available on the Indian ticketing site, BookMyShow.
With the upcoming India release, the movie will set its footprints across all major Southeast Asian markets, where an appetite for Korean animated content is increasing. The Indian theatre market has mostly observed success with action-based releases such as Infinity Castle and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. However, the market also had success with another coming-of-age experimental animated movie, Suzume.
Your Letter’s performance at the country’s box office will not only determine the commercial viability of Korean animated features, but also the credibility of subtle, character-driven narratives across languages and cultures.
