HYBE, the South Korean entertainment company behind BTS, launched the second installment of its ENHYPEN-themed vampire webtoon series on November 28, expanding its strategy to convert K-pop intellectual property into digital comics.
Dark Moon: Two Moons, the sequel to Dark Moon: The Blood Altar, debuted simultaneously across six markets including Korea, North America and Japan on the platform WEBTOON. The series released 10 episodes at launch, with new chapters scheduled weekly on Saturdays.
The original webtoon has accumulated more than 200 million views since its January 2022 debut, according to HYBE. Available in 10 languages, the series topped Germany's Sunday Webtoon rankings for 32 consecutive weeks and maintained top-10 positions in France, the United States and Thailand.
Dark Moon Anime Adaptation and HYBE's Webtoon Strategy
HYBE previously released two other K-pop linked webtoons in January 2022: 7Fates: Chakho featuring BTS and The Star Seekers based on Tomorrow x Together. An anime adaptation of Dark Moon: The Blood Altar is scheduled to premiere in Japan in January 2026, with Tokyo MX and BS11 among the broadcasters. Crunchyroll has reportedly secured international streaming rights.
The sequel continues the vampire-werewolf conflict from the first series, introducing Selen, a character resembling the original heroine. A HYBE representative told The Korea Herald the company expects the sequel to attract both existing fans and new readers through expanded characters and storylines.
