India is officially going to Riyadh. In a defining moment for the country's growing esports scene, the national VALORANT squad defeated Hong Kong 2-0 in the lower-bracket final on June 28, claiming the second and final Asian spot for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup this November. It is the exact result the community has been waiting for. Indian VALORANT has spent years knocking on the door of major international events.

Now, breaking through a nine-team regional bracket, the team has earned a place at a 32-nation tournament boasting a massive $1.5 million USD prize pool. They join Japan, which had already secured the region's first berth, as the only two teams to represent Asia on a global scale.

The regional qualification campaign, which ran from June 26 to June 28, was a true test of resilience. India opened their run in style, delivering a one-sided 13-2 victory over Nepal in the upper quarter-finals. However, a tough 13-5 loss to Japan in the semi-finals pushed them into the unforgiving lower bracket, where a single defeat meant instant elimination. From there, the tournament became a pure test of nerve, and the squad handled the pressure brilliantly. They kept their hopes alive with a 13-9 win over Pakistan, followed by a tight 13-10 victory against Mongolia.

This string of survival matches set up a do-or-die clash with a Hong Kong side that had recently fallen from the upper bracket. Saving their most brutal performance for last, India swept the series without dropping a map. The team posted consecutive wins of 13-10 and 13-6, answering the pressure with complete composure to settle the matter without ever needing a decider map.

A Roster Built for the Big Stage

This hard-fought qualification is a marker of how far India's domestic talent pool has come. With Indian VALORANT starting to break through at the club level over the past year, the national side now has a massive stage of its own to aim at, as per SportsAdda.

Officially assembled by NODWIN Gaming ahead of the competition, the national roster is led by veteran in-game captain Sagnik "Hellf" Roy. The squad features a deep bench of top-tier talent, including Abhirup "Lightningfast" Choudhury, Aman "Hoax" Yadav, Venkatesh "Venky" Sharma, Norbu "Karam1L" Tsering, Shravana "Techno" Sahoo, and Daivik "Dc" Chauhan. Their combined chemistry proved absolutely crucial during the high-pressure clutch rounds that defined their lower-bracket run.

The Esports Nations Cup will take over Riyadh from November 2 to 29, with the dedicated VALORANT competition scheduled to run between November 8 and 15. The standard of play in Riyadh will undoubtedly be a massive jump up in competition, offering this squad a valuable opportunity to test themselves against the very best on neutral ground with their national flag on their backs. There is plenty of work and preparation to do before November arrives. For now, however, the primary objective is complete: the team held their nerve, and India is in.
