KRAFTON India Unveils BGMI Showdown 2025 & International Cup
KRAFTON India brings BGMI Showdown 2025 and the International Cup with a massive INR 1 crore prize pool.
KRAFTON India, the publisher of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has announced its H2 2025 esports strategy, introducing two major tournaments with INR 1 crore prize pools each. The BGMI Showdown 2025 (BMSD) and the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) will provide direct qualification slots for Indian teams to enter the Global Championship, marking the first time India will secure multiple positions at the international level.
BGMI Showdown 2025: India’s Domestic Competition
The BGMI Showdown 2025 will begin on September 18 in Hyderabad, bringing together 48 top squads from the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS), Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series (BMPS), and approved third-party tournaments. Unlike standard online qualifiers, this studio-format event highlights India’s best talent under a LAN setting.
The finals, scheduled for October 10 to 12, will allow limited live attendance, giving fans an arena-style experience. Champions will receive INR 1 crore along with a direct Global Championship berth. Additionally, the top eight teams will qualify for the BMIC, ensuring multiple squads gain opportunities to compete internationally.
This structured approach provides a clear competitive pathway, allowing emerging talent to progress from casual gaming to national-level tournaments while incentivizing top-tier squads to perform at their highest level.
BGMI International Cup: India on the Global Stage
The BGMI International Cup is scheduled from October 31 to November 2, featuring 16 teams, evenly split between Indian squads and international competitors from Korea and Japan. With a INR 1 crore prize pool and two additional Global Championship slots, BMIC strengthens India’s position on the global esports calendar.
Hosting international teams in India allows domestic squads to compete at the highest level without traveling abroad. It also enhances India’s global visibility and credibility as a competitive esports hub, attracting sponsorships and increasing viewership.
BGMI has emerged as a key growth driver for Indian esports, with over 100 million downloads in the country and dominance in the mobile esports segment. Tournaments such as the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) are expected to boost international recognition and contribute to building a sustainable esports ecosystem.
Complementing these flagship tournaments is the BGMI Campus Tour 2025-26, focusing on Tier-2 cities and colleges. The tour is designed to discover talent beyond metropolitan areas and provide structured opportunities for aspiring professional players.
