Asus Forecasts $160M Revenue Boost from Ally X Launch
Asus confirms the ROG Xbox Ally X is witnessing a massive sales surge, leading to global stock shortages. See why the premium model is defying market trends.
Highlights
- The new handheld is selling faster than predicted, causing immediate global shortages.
- Buyers are overwhelmingly choosing the most expensive, high-performance model.
- Asus is urgently ramping up production to meet massive holiday demand.
Asus has confirmed that its latest gaming handheld, the ROG Xbox Ally X, is witnessing a massive surge in popularity, selling significantly faster than anticipated since its release on October 16. In a recent financial report and Q&A with investors, the hardware giant revealed that consumer demand, specifically for the high-end premium models, has far exceeded internal targets.
This unexpected momentum has led to immediate stock shortages in global markets, prompting the company to work urgently to meet the overwhelming consumer demand for high-performance portable gaming.
The financial outlook for the device is incredibly robust, given this strong market response. Asus projects that its Ally lineup, driven by this new third-generation release, will generate between $96 million and $160 million USD in revenue for the current quarter alone.
Looking further ahead, the company expects quarterly revenue from the handheld line to stabilize around $130 million to $160 million. Market analysts estimate that these figures translate to hundreds of thousands of units being moved during the critical holiday sales window for the October to December 2025 quarter.
Gamers Prioritize Premium Power
Interestingly, gamer preference has skewed heavily toward the most powerful and expensive version of the device. Despite a steep $999 price tag, the high-performance "X" variant has attracted a significantly larger share of early buyers compared to standard models.
Reports indicate that the vast majority of first-week sales were for this top-tier version, which boasts the new AMD Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. This trend signals a clear shift in the handheld market where enthusiasts are prioritizing raw power and specs over lower entry prices.
“We believe that we have achieved our original goals of premium positioning, creating a new growth driver in our gaming segment," said Asus.
However, this popularity has created supply chain bottlenecks. Asus executives confirmed that the premium variant is currently in short supply due to the sheer volume of orders. The company stated it is working closely with key component suppliers to ramp up production lines immediately to fill the "demand gap" and restock retailers.
Asus noted that the device, which features a "deeper collaboration with Xbox", has solidified itself as a core pillar of their gaming portfolio, with the company aiming to maintain this premium positioning as the Windows handheld sector moves toward 2026.
