Microsoft and ASUS Bring the ROG Xbox Ally Series to India, Opening Preorders on Oct. 7 for One of 2024’s Most Anticipated Handheld Gaming Consoles
Microsoft and ASUS are expanding their global handheld gaming lineup to India, with the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X set to open for preorders on Oct. 7 ahead of a full launch on Oct. 16, ASUS confirmed the India launch through an Instagram post.
Already available across 36 countries, the move strengthens the Xbox ASUS Republic of Gamers collaboration and brings one of 2024’s most talked-about portable consoles to one of the world’s fastest-growing gaming markets.This partnership blends Xbox’s console ecosystem with ASUS’s PC gaming expertise.
ROG Xbox Ally X and Ally: Key Specs and India Pricing
The ROG Xbox Ally X is the higher-end model, powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor and running Windows 11 Home. It comes with 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an 80Wh battery paired with a 65W fast charger. Its 7-inch Full HD display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth visuals.
The standard ROG Xbox Ally features AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It maintains the same 120Hz display but weighs less at 670 grams and uses a smaller 60Wh battery, making it more portable without sacrificing much performance.
Both consoles include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and ports such as USB-C, microSD, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The button layout mirrors the Xbox Wireless Controller, offering familiar comfort for console players.
Globally, the ROG Xbox Ally X is priced at $999.99 (around ₹88,700), while the standard Ally retails for $599.99 (around ₹53,200). In India, pricing is expected to start below ₹70,000, with the Ally X currently listed at ₹99,990 on ASUS’s India website.
The ROG Xbox Ally series’ arrival in India highlights the country’s accelerating interest in handheld and cloud gaming. As Xbox Game Pass continues to expand, Microsoft and ASUS are positioning these consoles as premium options for players who want desktop-level gaming performance in a portable form.
