Highlights

  • Attack on Titan 3 is the franchise's first new game in seven years.
  • Koei Tecmo and Omega Force are adding an upgraded 3D maneuver gear combat system, the Nine Titans, and new story content.
  • Koei Tecmo will reveal more details in a July 1 livestream, and the trailer also screens at Anime Expo 2026.

Koei Tecmo Games and Omega Force revealed Attack on Titan 3 at Summer Game Fest on June 5, a new game based on the Attack on Titan (AoT) franchise. The game will release across PC, Nintendo Switch 2, XBOX Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced.

According to Koei Tecmo, Attack on Titan 3 covers the story from the Survey Corps' early battles through the anime's conclusion. Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley described it as a project depicting "the entire story of a famous anime from beginning to end."

The game is the franchise's first new entry in seven years, since Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle in 2019. Koei Tecmo said the AoT game series had sold more than 2.6M units worldwide by 2021.

AoT, created by Hajime Isayama, is one of the best-selling manga of all time, with more than 140M copies in circulation as of November 2023. The anime won the inaugural Global Impact Award in 2025.

Attack on Titan 3: Game Description and Production Details

The Attack on Titan game series is developed by Omega Force, the studio behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise. Koei Tecmo published the first title, Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom, in 2016.

The new game features the Nine Titans, and the omni-directional combat built around the 3D maneuver gear is being upgraded. Koei Tecmo said the changes aim to make fights faster and more intense and to recreate the anime's large-scale battles.

Attack on Titan 3 will include new story content while folding in the earlier games' narrative for full story progression. The series' previous releases covered the story through the anime's third season.

Most details, including new gameplay mechanics and a release date, are still unannounced. On July 1 (July 2 in Japan), Koei Tecmo will host a globally streamed program featuring voice actors Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman) and Shiori Mikami (Krista), where fans can expect new information about the game.

The latest Attack on Titan 3 trailer will also screen at the AmiAmi booth during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, July 2 to 5, one of the biggest North American anime conventions. Anime-based games draw both built-in audiences and scrutiny because of their existing fanbases, and whether the seven-year wait satisfies AoT fans will become clear after release. Solo Leveling: KARMA, another anime-inspired game, gets a dedicated panel at the event on July 4.
