Highlights

  • The Roblox Bruno Mars concert hit a historic record of 12.8 million concurrent users.
  • Fans claimed over 5.4 million digital collectibles during the chaotic Roblox Bruno Mars show.
  • Despite the success, the Roblox Bruno Mars event still trails Fortnite’s 14.3 million peak

Bruno Mars has officially traded stadium lights for voxel chaos, setting a massive new benchmark for virtual performances. The Grammy-winning superstar’s recent appearance inside the viral Roblox experience Steal a Brainrot drew a record-breaking 12.8 million concurrent users. This Roblox Bruno Mars collaboration is solidifying the platform's status as a genuine music industry powerhouse. In a move that blends top-tier pop culture with internet meme absurdity, Mars became the first artist to "pop up" in the hit game, delivering a set that was as chaotic as it was historic. The numbers behind the event are staggering. According to internal data and analytics group RoMonitor, the concert peaked at exactly 12,862,161 concurrent users.

This figure marks the highest concurrent viewership for a virtual concert by a single artist in the platform's history, officially surpassing previous tentpole events like Lil Nas X’s 2020 show. The engagement extended far beyond the game itself; the company reported that the event generated 53 million views across social video platforms like TikTok and YouTube. Additionally, the official livestream reached 10 million viewers across 14 countries, proving that Roblox is successfully tapping into a younger, highly engaged demographic.

For the millions of players in attendance, the event was about more than just the music—it was about the "swag." The activation issued a massive number of digital items, with attendees accumulating a total of 5,428,644 "Brainrot" collectibles. These limited-edition items, specifically the custom "Brunito Marsito" characters, were snapped up by players participating in the live event. This high volume of distribution highlights the growing crossover between pop music fandom and the 24/7 gaming economy, creating an instant secondary market for the digital merchandise.

Voxel Style Over Motion Capture

The performance itself was a surreal collision of Mars’s smooth showmanship and the "Italian Brainrot" meme culture that defines the specific game mode. Mars performed his brand new single, “I Just Might,” alongside his diamond-certified classic “Locked Out of Heaven.” However, unlike previous high-fidelity concerts that utilized advanced motion capture technology to render realistic avatars, this performance embraced the platform's native aesthetic. Mars appeared as a stylized, standard Roblox avatar, performing amidst the frantic gameplay of Steal a Brainrot

While the 12.8 million figure establishes a new Roblox record, the platform still trails slightly behind its industry giant rival, Fortnite. The free-to-play battle royale saw a claimed 14.3 million concurrent players during its 2024 multi-artist event featuring Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Juice WRLD, and Ice Spice, as reported by GameindustryBiz.  Interestingly, Mars is no stranger to the competition; last year, he appeared as a performer in Fortnite Festival, the 2023 Harmonix-produced rhythm game that allows players to perform licensed songs. That mode has featured many recent touring acts, including Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Sabrina Carpenter.

The venue for this historic event, Steal a Brainrot, has become a juggernaut in its own right since its launch by developer SpyderSammy in May 2025. It previously hit a separate high of 25.4 million concurrent users in October 2025. This collaboration follows a deal Roblox previously signed with Sony Music to feature the label's artists.

However, the record-breaking event comes amidst a backdrop of increased scrutiny for the platform. Roblox recently rolled out mandatory age checks for all users of in-game chat, a response to persistent criticism regarding children being exposed to disturbing material on the platform.
