Highlights

  • In-island purchases are now live in Fortnite Creative, letting creators sell items using V-Bucks.
  • Creators keep 100% of revenue until Jan. 31, 2027, before shifting to a 50% split.
  • The feature adds to Fortnite’s existing creator pay out systems, expanding monetization options.

Epic Games has activated in-island transactions across Fortnite Creative, allowing creators to sell digital items and offers directly within their custom islands using V-Bucks. Islands that include these purchases can now be published publicly, marking the full rollout of the feature on Jan. 9, 2026.

Epic had planned to release in-island transaction publishing in December 2025, but moved the date to January 2026 to complete additional testing and address technical issues. With the system now live, creators have a new, built-in way to generate revenue from gameplay experiences hosted inside Fortnite Creative.

“You can now publish your islands that feature in-island transactions,” Epic Games stated on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that players can buy items and offers directly within those islands using V-Bucks.

Fortnite Creative Monetization Gains Direct Purchase Support

Creators will receive 100% of the V-Bucks value generated from in-island purchases through Jan. 31, 2027.

After that point, the revenue share will shift to a 50% split for creators. Epic’s FAQ also states that these purchases are final, with no refunds or cancellations, and that items bought through the system are restricted to use within the island where they were purchased.

The in-island transaction system complements Fortnite’s existing engagement-based creator pay outs rather than replacing them. Together, the models reflect Epic’s continued push to position Fortnite as a long-term platform supported by creator tools and monetization systems.

Since the launch of UEFN (Unreal Editor For Fortnite), Epic has reported 11.2B player hours across 260K creator-built islands, resulting in more than $722 million USD paid out to creators. The new transaction feature adds another layer to that ecosystem.
