Fans of the Water Hashira have a major reason to dive back into the arena today. Sega and publisher Aniplex have officially dropped the highly anticipated Giyu Tomioka (Infinity Castle) DLC for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2. Released yesterday, March 11, players worldwide can now harness Giyu's upgraded form across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Announced via a brand-new Sega trailer, this downloadable content brings a completely revamped iteration of Giyu specifically tailored to the game's VS. Mode. Built from the ground up by developer CyberConnect2 to reflect his intense battles from the anime's high-stakes arc, this version introduces devastating new Water Breathing techniques, enhanced visuals, and powerful dual ultimate arts pairings, including epic team-ups with Tanjiro.

Players can grab this cinematic fighter individually through the Character Pack or access him instantly by picking up the Infinity Castle Part 1 Character Pass. The paid Character Pass is a must-have for fans wanting to recreate moments from the recently released Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns film. Giyu marks the fifth fighter in a steady rollout of movie-inspired content.

The game's competitive roster previously welcomed Kaigaku on Oct 30, 2025, an Infinity Castle version of Zenitsu on Dec 2, 2025, the Upper-Rank demon Akaza on Dec 19, 2025, and an upgraded Tanjiro on Feb 13, 2026. Looking ahead, players can still expect Shinobu and Doma to join the lineup. This premium content follows a generous free update on Sep 18 that added the fearsome demon king Muzan Kibutsuji to boost competitive play.

Base Game Story Mode and Roster Features

For those just jumping in, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is packed with a massive amount of content. The sequel's story mode seamlessly continues where the 2021 original left off, covering the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training arcs. Meanwhile, the VS. Mode boasts a massive roster of over 40 playable characters, as per Anime News Network.

This includes all nine Hashira, returning favourites, and DLC demons from the first game, and special additions like Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji, who debuted as pre-order bonuses. The base game remains a top pick for esports enthusiasts and anime fans alike after launching to great success late last summer. It originally hit Japan on August 1, 2025, before rolling out globally in English on August 5, 2025.

Dedicated fans who grabbed the English Digital Deluxe Edition enjoyed up to five days of early access starting July 31, alongside valuable character unlock keys for heroes like Kyojuro Rengoku, Tengen Uzui, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Gyomei Himejima, plus exclusive costumes and system voices. As the developers continue to build upon the legacy of the original 2021 title, the latest Giyu update proves this fighting game shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
