Highlights

  • Net sales rose 53.7% year-on-year to ¥81.2 billion ($531.4 million), with operating profit up 90.8% and net income up 72.8%.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds and anticipation for Resident Evil Requiem fueled catalog sales, pushing unit sales to 22.85 million, up from 18.95 million last year.
  • Devil May Cry 5 was the best-selling game of the period, boosted by the new Netflix anime adaptation, with 2.13 million units sold in H1 2025.

Capcom delivered record financial results for the first half of fiscal year 2025, posting a 53.7% year-on-year rise in net sales to ¥81.2 billion ($531.4 million). Operating profit soared 90.8% to ¥81.1 billion ($530.7 million) while net income climbed 72.8% to ¥27.5 billion ($179.9 million). These gains mark another period of double-digit profit growth for the Japanese publisher, which still has highly anticipated titles scheduled for 2025 that could lead to a strong finish to the year.

Monster Hunter and Resident Evil Drive Record Results

Much of Capcom’s growth rests on sustained demand for Monster Hunter Wilds and increased anticipation around Resident Evil Requiem, set for a February 2026 release. Monster Hunter Wilds and Monster Hunter Rise pushed catalog unit sales to 22.85 million, a notable increase from 18.95 million units recorded the previous year.

Meanwhile, the Resident Evil franchise benefited from marketing around Requiem’s upcoming launch, supporting both current and past series titles with bundled pricing, as well as spiking interest in Devil May Cry 5 due to a recent Netflix series adaptation.

Digital Contents Segment Powers Earnings

Capcom’s Digital Contents business, which includes all gaming-related revenue, showed a 25.3% YoY rise in net sales and a 52% boost to segment operating profit, reflecting the strength of both new releases and back catalog performance. Recent titles such as Capcom Fighting Collection 2, Onimusha 2, Street Fighter 6, and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess “revitalized support from series fans”. Street Fighter 6 in particular crossed 5 million lifetime sales, helped by its release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Capcom’s active role in esports initiatives like the Capcom Pro Tour 2025.

Street Fighter Esports and Multi-Platform Synergy Worked for Capcom

Street Fighter 6’s esports activities and availability on Nintendo Switch 2 served as important growth levers. Capcom continues to utilize major titles through competitive gaming circuits and new platform launches, building global awareness and offering new consumer entry points. Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 also posted strong sales, reflecting Capcom’s approach to cross-media promotion, with anime and TV tie-ins bolstering game sales.

Capcom reports that projections for the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, remain on track. The company is targeting its thirteenth consecutive year of profit growth, citing strong momentum in both digital and catalog sales. With Monster Hunter Wilds, Resident Evil Requiem, and legacy franchises continuing to perform, Capcom expects to maintain a leading role in the global games market through consistent content releases and broader IP visibility.
