Don't Nod to Develop New Game Based on Major Netflix IP
Life is Strange developer Don't Nod announces a major new partnership with Netflix Games to adapt a secret, major IP.
Highlights
- Don't Nod is partnering with Netflix to create a new game.
- The game will be based on a major, unrevealed Netflix IP.
- It will be released on mobile for Netflix Games subscribers.
Don't Nod, the critically acclaimed studio behind Life is Strange and the Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, has officially partnered with Netflix to create a new narrative video game. In a significant move for the developer, the project will be an adaptation of a "major" Netflix intellectual property (IP), marking the studio's first venture into adapting an existing Netflix franchise.
The new title is being developed by Don't Nod's Montreal studio, which includes key team members from the original Life is Strange team.
It will be available to Netflix subscribers on mobile devices via the Netflix Games service. As with other titles on the service, the mobile version will be included with a membership at no extra cost and will not feature ads or in-app purchases.
While the specific Netflix property has not been revealed, this project is part of the streaming giant's new strategy to adapt its major IPs with established developers.
Deal Announced in 2025 Financial Report
The partnership was announced in Don't Nod's 2025 mid-year financial report. The deal is considered a "key milestone" in the company's "performance plan", which was enacted following a "rough period" that included staff layoffs. While CEO Oskar Guilbert noted "solid revenue growth" in the first half of 2025, the company's total operating revenue of €13.9 million ($15.3 M) was down 5% compared to the first half of 2024.
Don't Nod stated that this new project "finances the Montreal studio" and strengthens the group's "ability to evolve in an increasingly competitive and selective market." As part of this financing and development deal, Netflix will also serve as the publisher for the upcoming title.
Looking forward, Don't Nod is also focused on other titles, including The Lonesome Guild, which was released recently. The studio's next major project, Aphelion, is planned for 2026 and will kickstart a new IP.
Although Don't Nod is keeping the exact IP under wraps, fan speculation has pointed to shows like Stranger Things as a potential fit for the studio's storytelling style.
