Epic Games' Fortnite Restructures V-Bucks Packs as Costs Rise
Fortnite V-Bucks packs will offer fewer credits after Epic Games announces a pricing change.
Highlights
- Epic Games’ Fortnite will reduce V-Bucks amounts in Fortnite packs starting March 19, 2026.
- Players will receive fewer V-Bucks for the same price as part of an Epic Games V-Bucks price change.
- The Fortnite Battle Pass and several other passes will cost fewer V-Bucks, with rewards adjusted accordingly.
Epic Games will change the value structure of Fortnite’s V-Bucks packs beginning March 19, 2026. The price change will coincide with the launch of the game’s next season. The adjustment means players will receive fewer V-Bucks for the same real-world price.
The company attributed the decision to higher operating expenses tied to maintaining the long-running online title. In its March 10, 2026, announcement, Epic Games cited rising expenses, stating that “the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot.”
The shift affects several purchase tiers while keeping their dollar prices unchanged.
- $8.99 pack: 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000
- $22.99 pack: 2,400 V-Bucks instead of 2,800
- $36.99 pack: 4,500 V-Bucks instead of 5,000
- $89.99 pack: 12,500 V-Bucks instead of 13,500
- Exact amount option: 50 V-Bucks for $0.99, previously about $0.50
Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Pass and Pass Price Changes
Alongside the Fortnite V-Bucks price increase, Epic Games is lowering the V-Bucks cost of several Fortnite passes.
The Battle Pass will move to 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000, with players who complete the pass receiving 800 V-Bucks, enough to obtain the following season’s pass. Earlier versions of the pass allowed players to earn 1,000 V-Bucks plus an additional 500 through bonus rewards.
Other passes will also drop in price when their next cycle begins:
- Battle Bundle (Battle Pass plus 25 levels): 2,600 V-Bucks, previously 2,800
- OG Pass: 800 V-Bucks, previously 1,000
- Music Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks, previously 1,400
- LEGO Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks, previously 1,400
The Fortnite Crew subscription will also change, with the included monthly V-Bucks allocation shifting from 1,000 to 800. Epic noted subscribers will receive region-specific timing and details through email.
Epic confirmed that V-Bucks gift cards already purchased will still be redeemed at their printed value. The company’s Epic Rewards program will continue to offer 20% credit back on purchases made through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s payment system. Such purchases can be made across Android, iOS, web platforms, and PC.
These credits can be used in Fortnite, other Epic titles, or on the Epic Games Store when purchases are made through Epic’s payment system.
Fortnite generates revenue through V-Bucks, which are used to purchase cosmetic items. Epic has also expanded monetization by allowing developers to sell microtransaction items on user-generated islands introduced in December 2025.
