Epic Games, Inc., has launched the new Fortnite collaboration with Tyler, the Creator as part of its Icon Series. On Nov. 14, one day before the launch, Fortnite unveiled the full collection with Tyler’s two in-game skins, a suite of accessories, and three Jam Tracks with an official trailer.
The Icon Series in Fortnite is a mechanism through which Fortnite integrates real-world celebrities and pop-culture figures into its ecosystem, with skins, accessories, and additional content. Such collabs help maintain Fortnite’s relevance, boost in-game purchases, attract non-traditional gamers, and leverage the cultural significance of the celebrities.
The collaboration dropped on Nov. 15, at 7 pm ET, and following Fortnite’s scarcity-driven mini events strategy, the event will be available till Nov. 30. Players can use V-Bucks, Fortnite's in-game currency to acquire the items in the drop.
Tyler, the Creator's Music Career Inspires the Collaboration
The Tyler, the Creator crossover captures the American rapper’s real-life style from different eras in his music career. One of the in-game skins, “Chromakopian Outfit," based on his outfit in his eighth album, Chromakopia, released in 2024. The skin, worth 1,500 V-Bucks, comes with three alternate styles and a masked option.
Another premium skin, “Tyler, the Creator Outfit,” also worth 1,500 V-Bucks, follows more of a laid-back style from the rapper's classic “Odd Future” era. It also features three hat colors and a cel-shading option.
Alongside the skins, Epic Games has released an extensive set of accessories ranging from themed back blings and wraps, to musical props such as the Chromavox Microphone and Earfshaker Drums. These items range between 300-800 V-Bucks, consistent with Fortnite’s upper-tier cosmetic pricing. Additionally, emotes like “Lil’ Golf Cart” and “Thought I Was Dead” expand the offering, with each emote priced at 500 V-Bucks.
Epic Games included three jam tracks, "EARFQUAKE," "Sticky," and "Ring Ring Ring," as a part of the drop to attract Tyler, the Creator’s fanbase. Each of the tracks costs 500 V-Bucks and can be played in the Fortnite Festival mode.
Epic has packaged the entire collection, including the EARFQUAKE Track, at 3,200 V-Bucks, for players opting for a bundled purchase.
The Tyler collaboration fits into Fortnite’s wider marketing strategy, layering pop-culture IPs, timed mini events, and limited-time offers to drive engagement. Earlier in November, the game ran a full Springfield-themed takeover with The Simpsons, and shortly afterwards, the Disneyland “Game Rush” island mode launched with seven mini-games.
The three back-to-back collaborations within a month thus reinforce Fortnite’s pivot toward themed experiential content to retain engagement, and cement its status as a multi-genre entertainment platform.
