Highlights

  • Intel and Nvidia unveiled an alliance to co-develop integrated CPUs and GPUs for consumer PCs and AI servers, with Nvidia acquiring a $5 billion stake in Intel.
  • The collaboration will see Intel manufacture x86 system-on-chips featuring Nvidia RTX GPU chiplets, spanning future generations of PC and data center products.
  • Nvidia's investment aims to boost Intel's competitive position in AI and accelerate joint innovations for both hyperscale and consumer markets.

A landmark partnership between Intel and Nvidia was announced this week in a move set to reshape both personal computing and AI (artificial intelligence) infrastructure. Intel confirmed it would integrate Nvidia RTX GPU chiplets directly into x86 system-on-chips, aiming to deliver high-performance solutions for a broad range of consumer PCs and enterprise AI servers. The announcement coincided with news that Nvidia will purchase $5 billion in Intel common stock at $23.28 per share, strengthening both their financial and technological ties.

Intel and Nvidia Reveal Strategic Partnership For Computing and AI

Under the new agreement, Intel is tasked with designing and producing custom x86 CPUs destined for integration into Nvidia’s AI platforms, both for data centers and mainstream PC markets, including gaming. Personal computers and notebooks powered by upcoming Intel chips are expected to include Nvidia's top-end GPU technology, enabling improved graphics and accelerated AI-driven tasks. The partnership also involves closer integration through Nvidia’s NVLink, supporting seamless interconnects between CPU and GPU components.

The collaboration is projected to span multiple product generations, with both companies targeting accelerated workloads in gaming, artificial intelligence, and creative industries. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang commented on the deal as an essential extension of both firms’ ecosystems and a foundation for future computing platforms. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan described the collaboration as a conduit for driving innovation and supporting evolving market demands in AI adoption and client computing.

The deal marks a defining moment in advanced chip development and signals a new era of industry alliances bridging the gap between processors and graphics innovations. Both consumer and enterprise buyers are set to benefit from more powerful, integrated platforms when the first collaborative products reach the market in the coming years.
